xxJohnxx Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Hi, Well, as I hope for the release for the MiG-21Bis soon, I thought why not practice dogfighting in the A-10 until then? Okay, I must admit, I probably not my best idea. :smilewink: I set up a short mission, against a not so good enemy. Well, I thought it is better to die because I am to stupid to fly arround his bullets than to get shooten down from x miles with a hyper modern missile, before I can even see him. So I did several dogfights against him, and I have to say, at least in this simulator I didn't had bad chances. Okay, sometimes he gunned my belly before I have even noticed him but I also did some kills. I also noticed that I have a really bad aim with the gun. After I hit him with a AIM-9 he was creeping home, I did my best to get him, but it took about 500 rounds to shoot him out of the sky, while he was flying straight and steady. :D I did better when I pulled him down to the ground, which made the life much easier for me. Maybe because he is at least at the same altitude or higher above you, which makes visually spotting/following him much easier (okay, I also lost him visually as I was fighting against gravity sometimes...). But also my small turnradius was an advantage down there. Sometimes I flew small circles while he tried to aling himself for a good shoot. And after some passes I had luck, and suddenly he was infront of me, my GAU-8 and last but not least the AIM-9. Okay, I didn't hit anything airborn with the cannon, but the Sidewinder did a good job. I have uploaded the mission and the track, in case somebody is interested in such a little trainingsexercise. I would really like to see your tracks, maybe from this mission or from any other, where you had a nice dogfight against some nasty enemy. Best regards, John1vs1.trk1vs1dogfight.miz 1 Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled

CoachA10 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Use the AMIL sight when engaging a straight and level target for behind or head on.
