ShuRugal Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 The CA Trailer is awesome, ED/TFC should make similar trailers for their other products, too. Thats a cheap way to spread the word. The free Su-25T in DCS:World is a very clever idea, too. The website could see some improvements. once World goes live, i imagine that ED would do well by advertising it as "free to play" (SU-25 only, of course). Anyone who is interested in a serious flight sim will get the hook set on that, and once they see that the DCS series means business, pull the trigger on modules for aircraft which interest them. This also gives folks who don't know if they want the kind of simulation that DCS offers a chance to try it out risk-free (which is very important in today's economy, people don't have enough money to be spending on recreational products they are unsure they will like).
Erforce Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 It's sad but regarding the DCS World iteration programs, SU25 is their demo. Implementing a limited access (like the arcade mode only for BS2) is : a / too far from what DCS really is (army simulation, not a simple game) b / Too hard to code. (a 5mn flight control synchronization would be squeezed by hackers so fast... and drm drm drm... sorry what? didn't seen that) but it definitely need something to gather peoples online. The BEST BET In My Humble Opinion, is DCS Combined Arms. - Not too hard / fast learning curve - Not too arcarde (please please please) - Don't require you to buy a 150$ joystick / TrackIr - FUN (?) DCS CA should be something strong for the non-flight sim fans. But it will depend mainly on how flight commanders (us) will hire them. i would not be jealous if DCS CA become the major success of ED. But there's so much S-H-*-T-S in the game industry today that i will never ever buy a game without trying it out before. (unless DCS CA obvioulsy) maybe when this time comes, ED will finally tell us than BS sold over 38965 copies, and CA over 800k ;) TASK / ROLES acronyms guide Black Shark A.I. datalink guide illustrated (v1.2.4 Available on Wiki) DCS World Codex 1.1 : full units list (Speed/Weapons/Armor thickness/Threat zone/Weapon damage...) sobek Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Almost 30k users registered on this forum...means at least 30k licenses sold and 1M$+ income http://forums.eagle.ru/memberlist.php No, it doesn't. First, there's a lot of fake spam accounts (yeah, we're after those, but it's like a hydra, you kill one head and five others grow back). Then there's users that have an account and didn't buy any ED dynamics product. Or maybe they bought just one. The propability of a forum user to have bought a product is higher than the average person but there is not necessarily a strong correlation and definately no causality. Last but not least, most users never register on this forum, so it is kind of hopeless to try to deduct real sales figures out of forum numbers. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
