Slothface Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Hi all, my query is this: When the HSI is slaved to a tuned TACAN navaid, it works in a way that when you move the course bar it will give you radials to and from the TACAN tuned, with the relevant deflection of the course bar swinging around. When slaving it to a steerpoint, the HSI does not behave in the same sensitivity with regards to the course bar deflection. Is there a way to adjust this sensitivity so I can use sudo waypoints over a position where a TACAN is in real life but not in game? Thanks in advance! :) Sloth "You get enough sleep when you're dead!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- TM WH HOTAS, TM Cougar MFDs, TrackIR 5 Pro Processor: i5 2.67Ghz Board: Intel DP55WB Video: Nvidia GTX650 Ti Boost RAM: 8Gb DDR3 1333MHz OS: Win7
BlueRidgeDx Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Yes, depending on the database in use - FLT PLAN or MISSION - you can set the sensitivity on the appropriate waypoint attributes page. There's some nuance as to the appropriate page on which to set the attributes and I'm on vacation at the moment, so I'll let someone else link to the thread that discusses it. Slothface Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 Yeah, think I know what you mean, had a play with the waypoint attributes by switching between approach, enroute, terminal etc and the deviation bar didn't seem to alter in sensitivity. I basically want the bar to start swinging/moving like a radio navaid would, about 4 to 6 miles out or so. Seems the deviation bar moves 10miles+ out when using it with a steerpoint which is useless when trying to train/practise navaid radial intercepts. If I'm doing it worng and the solution lies in the attributes page I'd love to hear about it! BlueRidgeDx Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Two things: There are multiple pages on which you can set the attributes, and they act independently of each other based upon the source database of the current steerpoint. There's a thread around here where I gave the details...search for "waypoint attributes"'and you should find it. Second, the CDI sensitivity when navigating to a real navaid is based on angular displacement, so the lateral ground distance represented by one dot of CDI displacement varies proportionally with range to station. When navigating to an EGI waypoint, CDI displacement always represents a fixed distance. So you will notice a difference in CDI performance between the two scenarios, even with the sensitivity set to "Enroute". 1 "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. GregP Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 There's a thread around here where I gave the details...search for "waypoint attributes"'and you should find it. Right, that was my thread from last month: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87650 1
BlueRidgeDx Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 That's the one...thanks Greg. I'm snaking my way through the Smithsonian museums with my daughter. I'm talking about Wooly Mammoths while typing about EGI navigation on my iPhone, lol. "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. Creighton Abrams
