deltalord Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Was playing the Deployment campaign, mission 3 with the bunkers in the village, and was running very low on fuel. My wing-man was already RTB probably very close to home when it crashed on me. I realized I wasn't going to make it back to base. Was going to put it down in a valley and I pushed the trimmer button in and the game CTD. deltalord Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Same mission, same problem: This time I upped my fuel but forgot about the wingman. He called bingo fuel so I again told him to complete mission and RTB. This time I don't think he was quite as far home but I am not sure, I was busy searching the village. I was adjusting the shkval zoom when it CTD. deltalord Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 I just did a test. I set wingman fuel to 10%, took off and waited for him to join up. Then I told him to complete mission and RTB. When he called bingo fuel, I asked him again to complete mission and RTB. I was watching him and when he ran out of fuel, the moment he hit the ground the game CTD with same error messages in windows error log and dcs crash file.
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Interesting - I'll attempt it in my version. Does this happen if he crashes when out of fuel in another mission? Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
deltalord Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Interesting - I'll attempt it in my version. Does this happen if he crashes when out of fuel in another mission? No idea, I just started BS2 and am learning it. Thought the campaign was a good start. I'll try another mission and see what happens when I have some time. I'm done for tonight on it.
deltalord Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) I have done a few more tests. It crashes the exact same way on my old PC on Deployment #3, so it's not just my new pc with this issue. At first the wingman hit the ground hard but the game didn't CTD immediately. After a few hard bounces and some damage from the bouncing about, then the game CTD while it was still taking damage. The second test was interesting. I used Deployment #2 (escort) to check if it would happen on another mission. The first flight ended with the wingman making a rather tricky landing and bouncing a few times , but otherwise heli in one piece and no obvious damage. The rotors stopped normally and the game kept running. Next I reduced fuel a bit more so he would go down in more trickier terrain, and when he ran out he went down so hard, and like my first posting when I noticed it, the game CTD as soon as he touched the ground. Please note that I only tested the Complete mission and RTB command , I don't know if other commands cause CTD if a wingman runs out of fuel and crashes during performing it. Nate--IRL-- Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Thank you very much I shall check in the latest versions. Edit:- Actually you what would be great is if you could give mea track that ends just before he is about the hit the ground - that way I can be sure of seeing exactly what you are seeing. deltalord Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 Making a short track that the AI couldn't land successfully proved much harder than thought. Finally got this track done, crashes both my pcs, wingman hits hard enough to cause CTD upon touching ground.New Track3.rar
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Fantastic thanks will take a look - I tried to replicate it myself but couldn't Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
