Lovac Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Ok, right now I have this: CPU: Intel C2D E4300 1.8Ghz (Not overclocked) RAM: 2Gb DDR2 GPU: nV Gf8800GT (a little overclocked, with a better cooler) JOY: Logitec Attack 3 I have some money I could spend on improving my gaming rig, so I came up with a few different plans and I need help choosing the right one. First: I would buy a better joystick :joystick: (TM T.flight HOTAS X) Second: I would sell my graphics card and buy a new one (Need your suggestion here on which one). My budget for gpu would be around 100-120 euros. Third: I would sell my cpu, mobo and ram and by something like this: CPU: Intel i3 2100/2120 mobo: Something to hold everything together RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Which one would contribute most to my gaming experience? I plan on flying the A-10C, and I have my eyes on some future addons. p.s. there is not much money involved so I dont really have a lot of room to adjust. Team VRC Member
EtherealN Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Hm, I'm not sure you would get much at all, if anything, from selling that present CPU/mobo/RAM combination. Similarly, your current CPU/RAM combo is so weak that simply replacing GPU is borderline pointless. The GPU might help you slightly in some games (mainly shooters), but for getting current on simulators your CPU is just plain "too weak". If you have a rough budget I can see if I can think of a plan-of-action that gets you what you need at good value, but as it stands the third option is your key interest - but you will need a new graphics card as well if you want to use current sims. To put it in a sentence: there's no real alternative to replacing the entire machine. Cali Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Ethereal said it, just keep saving up until you have enough to buy a new system. I just bought mine and I wanted to stay around $1500, this system cost $1538, but should have cost me around $1400. I lost my Windows 7 CD, bought new thermal paste and still have a few rebates to spend back. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Lovac Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 Thanks guys, I was afraid of a situation like this. I think that I will buy the hotas now, and get a job over the summer to earn money for a new computer. Team VRC Member
EtherealN Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Sounds like a plan. It doesn't really take a huge amount of money to get something that "works" as long as you shop around a bit. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
