cfarsr Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology but I'll try my best. When going to to a port with ILS, I can set up ILS receiver to correct freq, turn the power on and select ILS on the lower center control panel. For whatever reason when following ATC's directions, the glide slope and heading needle never line up. What am I doing wrong? Also, when starting up on my own and using the TAD screen, everything shows up but the green bar connecting the waypoints (flight path?). How do I get that to show up? Thank you, Chris
Merijn Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Maybe this will help: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71079&highlight=stow+ils+needle Check reaction number 4. Evil.Bonsai Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 for ils, the directions ATC are giving you are for a point several miles out from the end of the runway at 'pattern altitude' which is 2k-3k feet. When you turn toward the runway, the ils localizer bar (vertical bar) and the glide path indicator (horizontal bar) should be somewhat close to center. ATC is not telling you how to get to the runway/base, but where to be so that you can intercept the ILS correctly. for the flight path lines on the TAD, you need to set your steerpoint dial to flight plan
cfarsr Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Thanks merijn. I'll check tomorrow to see if the switch was in stowed position. About the only thing I didn't fumble with. As for flight path, the dial down near the ILS panel on the right, correct? I always set that to flt pth but still no luck. Any other ideas?
Evil.Bonsai Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Well, the other way to switch that is by using the UFC, but that takes a couple of button pushes to switch modes, which it doesn't sound like you're doing. So, I am at a loss, for the moment.
cfarsr Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Might it be from doing function 2 then divert to find an airfield? That's the only way I can find airfield info.
cfarsr Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Ok the able/stow issue was what was wrong with ILS so thank you. Also the flt pth is present when I set everything up and using the divert option is what makes it disappear. How do I get the flight path back?
