Hi all.

My radio comms button works for 10 secs into session first flight, then stops for all further flights in that session. I have tried re-installs on different drives, which were de-fragmented. No joy. Also tried it from a different key. It gives a problem with a virgin install of 1.1, no hotas, or changes to the config files, no patches, or mods.

Comms works fine on original lock-on, throughout the flight. But once i apply flaming cliffs, problem is back. And 1.11 diden't fix it. Its a show stopper if I want to play offline with any level of realism.

I've seen comments from others with this problem, but not many. Has anyone a real fix for this ?

I have posted on this some time back, but got nowhere.

Thanks

Sort of Fix

Hello,

I've been pretty irritated by this, too. The only fix I could find that worked was to map that function (opening the comm menu) to a joystick button. Once the menu's up, the usual buttons work, and I can talk to everyone again. Not ideal, but I hope it helps.

Please, please...................

tell me what is this 'New View utility' that you speak of. I have searched the FC website downloads/Files/Utilities, and can find no reference to it on this forum.

And is it helpful or not? :(

No, it's may be a cause of such problem ;) It's a third party utility which is not compatible with LO:FC.

Also, may be you have the Cam2Pan utility installed?

i had same comms problem, way back in the begining of 1.1, only way i could sort it was by reinstalling the game and windows, i am not sure what i did first, whether it was new windows install or new lomac install, but the only way i got it to work correctly was doing what i did above. That maybe wont apply in your situation, but for me that was the only way to get it to work.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Han,

No utilities installd, only cat 5.10 driver for ATI. FC always with minimum of services in windows. Problem even occurs without cougar, or TIR!

Real funny thing is, i can do as many comms as i can manage keypresses for all good, but only for 10 secs into flight, then it all stops. Weird!

Evil Scotsman,

Re-installing windows is not a runner. Have tried installing FC on a different drive, clean registry etc. virgin, from Lomac, added 1.1, no changes to original config files. But same problem.

I noted that u are using an Nvidia board. Was that the same when you had the problem?

nope, when it happened to me i was using a via chipset mobo and a 6800gt, i presume when u say board you meant nvidia nforce4 motherboard and not video card ?

If i remember correctly, i uninstalled the game and reinstalled but it still didnt work, so i eventually formatted and reinstalled lockon as soon as windows was up and running, and since then i havent suffered from it since.

Just thought i'd post an update on this issue.

Since i installed 1.1.2a, the comms menu button is working perfectly. I did have to re-map it to a different key (the L key). Not sure if it was sorted in 1.1.2, as i did not have time to play with key settings to try it before the updated patch came along. Can't say 100% that it was sorted by the patch, and im not gonna go back to the old patch to prove it.

So for me i got this extra feature (back) in the patch.

Thanks ED.

Well finally tracked down (fingers crossed) the cause of this problem, and not it was nothing to the patch. It was a wireless microsoft keyboard. Problem resurfaced out of the blue, but after i had changed over from one wireless KB to another (same model). So i tried a standard 'wired' keyboard in place, and it worked perfect. I wonder if anyone else has had a problem with wireless keyboard.

A pity cause i really like my wireless KB and mouse. :(
