I'm having a bit of a problem with this new canyon defense mission I'm working on. I'm trying to get a group to preform a Search then Engage AI task based off of flags and radio menu options. I'm able to get the add radio item to function just fine; can even get units to active without issues. However when Flag 1 is true and a AI controlled allied unit is issued an AI task of Search then engage they just ignore the task and continue on with their regularly scheduled flight path. I'm sure I'm just missing something here. Attached are screenshots of my triggers... maybe someone can help?

The actual waypoint advanced tasks doesn't have much there; just a series of way points with a switch to waypoint command to cycle back through and do a racetrack pattern. The triggered actions tab has all the search the engage tasks though. What am I missing here? I'm a n00b when it comes to the mission editor. Should I just create way points for each flag attack command and do a switch waypoint to that if flag is true?

Looks like i've solved my issue possibly. Going to play with AI on and off as well as just switching waypoints to get what i want accomplished with F10/Other radio calls for artillery and CAS support from AI controlled units.

Probably has to do with the AI search then engage task. Search then engage requires that the AI first detect the enemy before they engage them. If the AI don't detect the enemy, they won't do jack !@#$ in response to the triggered action.

 

Engage Group is usually better because it forces the AI to detect the group, but it is not available in all AI mission types.
