Rikus Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 The best meteo engine is FSX for sure. I guess, leaving meteo engine, i wonder, is it so difficult to add "turbulence" effect as in FSX? In FSX is very well implemented, fly the airplane you fly, it´s very good, and it´s very immersive Greetings
BlueRidgeDx Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 There's turbulence in DCS already, and it's much better than the hack job we got in FSX. The FSX turbulence is very poorly modeled, and its been roundly criticized by all. There are certain aspects of the weather engine that are better than DCS; overcast that doesn't cover the entire world/map, multiple cloud layers, thermals and ridge lift, for example. But the wild windshifts, crazy visibility changes, poor precipitation effects, and retarded turbulence is not something I'd like to see emulated by any DCS product. ikaro Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) I don´t think so... the FSX meteo (with ActiveSky) is far superior to DCS meteo. Whether that gives a thousand turns. I think that the actual representation of the turbulence in the World (DCS World) are quite poor and simple... only a cockpit shake... The effects of turbulence are more than just a shake. It has effects on altitude, speed, direction, g-force, ability to see or read instruments ... Surely all these effects represent very complicated, and it would take hundreds of calculations or additional programming. The easy thing is to leave like a cockpit-shake ... but what many of us, would like it to be noticing more in the physical and flight behavior. It just a wish.... other wish. Echo38 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) ability to see or read instruments ... When I was flying I.R.L., in turbulence severe enough to roll the 152's wings 45 degrees in under a second, I never had any problem seeing or reading any instruments. Difficulty reading instruments is purely a problem with P.C. flight sims, due to the monitors. (Well, you can have problems with it I.R.L. under some unusual circumstances, such as if you have poor eyesight, but it isn't at all like it is in P.C. sims.) Edited September 14, 2012 by Echo38
Demongornot Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Turbulence its an important feature, already implemented but not really effective. Its just the weather who need to be improve cause actually its a light version, turbulence, even with hard wind is light and a lot of things miss... The most important feature to integrated its turbulence CAUSED BY OBJECT, the R-77 Vympel missile ITSELF cause a massive blast enough for down an helicopter or a small aircraft and its a MISSILE with 3,6 m long, 0,2 m large and 226 Kg and ok it flight fast but it was really small compare to an aircraft. We have NO turbulence caused by other aircraft, its stupid to not implement important features... My favorite aircraft the XB-70 Valkyrie was lost cause he sucked a NASA's escort modifier F-104 with wings vortex, during refueling its an important thing who can cause difficulty for approach if we are at the wrong position, a french Mirage 2000 have down a small aircraft just by pass fast close to him, the civil aircraft have lost control and crash, even with military helicopter it can happen, imagine an F-15 pass next to you at Mach 2,5... During dogfight it can be really important, the aircraft vortex/turbulence and the jet wash itself, and its not implemented... Anyways i have stop to hope to see new and IMPORTANT/REALISTIC feature in DCS...
