Wow, this guy Tacno is realy smart. Hopefully he writes english, will ask him some questions. His radios are perfect !!

Thanks for the hints, I tested it right now and it works well with the YAW !!

Today I set up the new Version from World and brought it back to work with all my stuff. Tomorrow will arrive the last monitor, than I am on 3 x 27" for view and 24" for Helios. So no more money this month , ordered also a second B256 from brydling.

Leobodnar has to wait some weeks :)

Also waiting for Deathmans knobs and some panels from sveden

I am looking forward to have the pit , more or less, functional end of this year.

Cheers

I come back with this old thread because I have an other issue with the Leo Bodnar BBI-32 interface card:

I have, so far, connected 4 of this Rotary Switches

BBI-rotary-switch.jpg

and would like to connect many of this Rotary Encoders (for radios, etc)

If I connect the Rotary Encoders to the BBI-32 they disturb the switch positions of the Rotary-Switches.

Any idea , expect buing more and more Bodnar boards ?? :P

Thanks again for all your help, the left console becomes more and more working.

Cheers

Are you trying to run more than 8 switches on one row? All the leads going to a rotary switch need to be on the same row.

To run a 12 position switch, you would need to matrix some of the switch leads.

Hi Tom,

Have you tried the Leo Bodnar Forum? From links threads it looks like the first 11 channels are reserved for the BBI-12 position rotary switch:

http://www.leobodnar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4191

http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=205

Try move the encoders to the end of the board e.g. channel B31 & B32 and see if it works. If it does then try and place an encoder at B13 & B14.

Just out of curiosity... You have two B256A13 boards.. There should really be a need for wiring up the rotary selector switches using only two wires :music_whistling:

Okay, thank you guys so far ...

So max 11 RotarySwitches on B1 to B11. Understood.

But what to do with the RotaryEncoders. Do you think I can connect them to the B256A13 ? You are right, I soldered a whole CDU to 2 plugs from a B256A13 and safe work using the RotarySwitches :).

I tried several positions for the Rotary Encoders, always getting on a switch number used by the RotarySwitch, at least it becomes some more.

So far I have 4 RotarySwitches connected:

- CMSP Mode

- STEER Point

- PAGE

- TACAN MODE

VHF needs 2 for each radio plus 4 RotaryEncoders .... huuu, thats much stuff. And TACAN also needs 2 double RotaryEncoders.

JG14_Smil, so that it was I connected and want to connect. I dont the understand the matrix stuff due I use this "Ready to use 2 cable Rotary Switches"

F**** , my CDU monitor stopped working after 2 weeks, seems that the HDMI to Video-Converter is broke down. Should try golfing or fishing as my hobby :smilewink:

Hi Tom,

Connecting the encoders to the B256A13 won't work. IMO there is no software available to interpret the inputs as rotation.

With regard to the rotary encoders there a some options:

1. Ask Leo Bodnar support whether it is possible to attached BBI-12 and encoders onto the same board. I cannot test is as I do not have any BBI-12 rotary switches.

2. Buy another BBI-32 board to deal with the encoders.

3. Connect the rotary switches to one of the B256A13 card instead and use you available BBI-32 card for the encoders.

Cheers

Hans
