Tarkus Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Hello , In an attempt to clean up the mess I have been making whilst attempting to get to grips with -at least a little bit of 'World', I decided to un-install and to begin over again with a fresh installation. Unfortunately I have found the A -10C and P51 contents in options>control to be completely missing. The SU25 component remains as it should.(maybe). I am asking for help in restoring this (game?) to a playable state -can someone advise me please and I would be most thankful if whosoever it is, takes acccount of the fact that my 70 year old brain has been truly tested by -particularly A-10C over recent weeks. Thanks, Mike
ErichVon Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) I feel your pain, my memory sucks and I will be 61 in a few weeks. I do computer stuff today and doing the same stuff, but learning new. Tomorrow: What was I doing? I suppose surviving a cerebral hemorrhage 11 years ago probably causes issues with memory, but balance is the worst of it, been using a cane ever since---LOL! I have a 4 drawer filing cabinet with stuff in folders titled appropriately in slings on a rack within each drawer to try to function in some kind of logical remembering process. My wife has trained me well! I do similar saves within My Documents within Windows 7. Concerning DCS World, my P-51D was a separate pre-purchase installation as was the A-10C for World. My DCS: A-10C version 1.1.1.1 is not the same installation as my World: A10C; they are separate. I too, just gutted everything concerning DCS World and the only aircraft that comes with it is the Su-25T as it is similar but not identical to the FC2's: Su-25T. Some of the Options Controls are not the same. But learning it is easier for me in FC2 using Crunch's CH Products profile for it. Today I did re-load into DCS World my recently updated, pre-purchase "A-10C_1.2.0.63205.exe" file to this path: C:\DCS_WORLD\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C I dragged and dropped my "A-10C_1.2.0.63205.exe" file from where I keep it in "My Documents" over "A-10C" and it installed itself into the A-10C sub-directory under \aircrafts\A-10C . The same process is also done the same way for the P-51D's "P-51D_1.2.0.63205.exe" file, but under \aircrafts\P-51D . These are "Modules" for DCS World. They have to also be updated with the DCS World update using the same update number prefix, currently 1.2.0 . Because of the way Windows 7 negatively functions games within its Programs directory, I created my own directory, titled, "DCS_WORLD". I could title it anything, but that makes it easy for me to remember. I do not remember how I obtained the .exe file for A-10C for DCS World. I already had purchased DCS: A-10C the final release February 24, 2011 for $60. I have it patched up to version 1.1.1.1 in DCS. I see in "My Documents" stash for A-10C, the DCS World is patch #7: version 1.1.2.1 . I bet this was not a pre-purchase for me, but just a patch update. I do have the hardcopy receipt for the World P-51D pre-purchase. I only got World to mess with the P-51D, initially. And now World, since, the patches are acquired differently than when it was just DCS. I never played much with FC2 and I am currently learning the Su-25T. I have not had to go through the serial numbers request process, yet. DCS World has not asked, yet. I only use one account and everything related is on this PC. Man, the A-10C's cockpit in World sure looks crisp. Best wishes. Edited September 25, 2012 by ErichVon typos that look like misspellings(sp?) LOL
JG14_Smil Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I believe you do as Erich says and DL the modules you need. I think you enter your serial numbers for the copies you own when asked for it. You can get your serial numbers at the DCS site where you bought them (links at top of this page). thank you two for making feel just a bit younger :) (52)

Looks to me like a work of love. For what that cost you, you probably could have gone and gotten the 1st phase helicopter license in real life. I looked into the basic single engine Cessna pilot's solo license locally and it can be had for about $2500 . Careful with the age 50's bracket. I had a lot of buddies never see 60. I figure anybody older than me is a survivor... Most guys are long gone by 81. Edited September 25, 2012 by ErichVon
Tarkus Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Let me tell you how bad it gets when the three score and ten are in your rear view. I gratefully accepted your suggestions Erich , especially as they were then backed up by JG14. Unfortunately, I still couldn't get things running correctly and that was because I was----- -----trying to install 'World' onto' World' and not A-10c onto 'World'--- -----and now you know what you have to look forward to. Sorry for the delay in responding but I have spent hours on this just to find out how stupid I have become! Thank you both for attempting to help me and sorry for wasting your time. Regards Mike

Regards Mike My ISP finally got my Internet feed back up since September 25, 2012. No waste of time for me. Lots of folks here have helped me since I came onboard since February 2011. I am just returning the favor. I never expected to see age 52. At least you figured it out. Cheers. Edited October 2, 2012 by ErichVon
