I've been wishing for a feature like this since the first day I got DCS: A-10C.

Question: Where should I save my keyboard profile for the General layer? I'm looking in Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input, and there isn't a directory called "General." Just the directories with the names of the other layers, and one called "Default." Does Default = General? (Edit: yes, looks like it is; the LUA file in the Default directory changes to match my current key binds, even when I do not save to that default profile.)

Edit: Looks like the "Load Profile" function is working in 1.2.1, so I guess it doesn't matter where I save it, as long as I remember where I put it.

Edit again: looks like the General controls don't do quite what I thought they would do. Hmm.

I am not sure what was broken on your end but what you describe has always worked.

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

Huh. When I made the thread about it, there were others who also had the problem. I discovered a workaround (it's in the thread) for it a few months ago, but, at any rate, it's really nice to have it working properly now. If it was something on their end, they fixed it, and if it was something on my end, I guess I fixed it by installing the new version properly.

Hmm. So I've bound my general layer, but these keys don't function the way I thought they would. I had thought that any key bound to the General layer would function regardless of which aircraft I am flying; e.g. if I bind Q to "view center" in the General layer, then hitting the Q key would center my view regardless of which aircraft I'm flying. However, this isn't the case; my General layer isn't over-riding the keys for my aircraft layers. In fact, I even unbound them in my aircraft layers (because I want Q to center view universally, regardless of aircraft), and Q still has no effect while I'm in an A-10C.

So, what is this General layer for, and how does it work?

Edit: well, regardless of what it's meant for, it looks like I found a good use for it. I select layer A-10C, load my General profile, and now I only have to bind the keys specific to the A-10. Better than having to bind them all from nothing, which is what I was going to do. I can also use this General profile to begin constructing my P-51D profile. Here, too, I'll only need to bind the keys specific to the P-51D. My general keys are already loaded in from the General profile. A bit odd, but it works, as long as you import the general binds before you bind anything else. I'm guessing it'll over-write any non-general keys, even in categories that the General layer doesn't have?

Edit again: oh, bother! Looks like that doesn't work after all. I ran into some unusual conflicts--if I try to import the General layer key binds into the A-10C layer, the keys for categories which the General layers don't have become "locked" in the A-10C layer. I'm really quite confused now. I've spent the last two hours solid banging my head against the key bindings, and I still haven't actually successfully bound any keys. What's the General layer for, and how do I use it?
