DCS Virtual Cockpit - 270 degrees FOV - Seamless rear projection system

Hi Guys,

Tomas from NZ here - I would like to introduce new innovation that has been developed for best results with DCS World:

Seamless virtual cockpit systems that completely surrounds the pilot.

The immersion is much more intensive and convincing than with any 3D goggles. Unlike with 3D goggles you have the advantage of seeing the panoramic cockpit and scenery as well as view of your cockpit, controls and keyboard - no blind reaching for things. Compared to normal TV/monitor setup you have the advantage of much larger field of view with the benefit of having no bezels. Creating similar field of view with TVs would be far too expensive and with monitors impractical, not mentioning the fact the resolution would be so high the framerate would be measured in FPH instead of FPS.

With track IR we can make the virtual cockpit dynamic and along with 3D goggles create complete sensation of holographic environment. The system has been tested with D-Box motion and various hardware cockpits. We ship worldwide and packed for shipping it is smaller and lighter than gaming seats - so the shipping price is not much of an issue.

Here are some pics of three different sizes -

Trident (construction with protective sheet on) -

Centurion -

TITAN -

note how detailed and clear is the picture even on close ups

(I have to make some footage in simulation mode - much more fun)

there is more about the system on http://www.simpit.co.nz. Any questions are welcome.

Like it. Flying this along with sitting on the D motion, would just be stunning. Such a pity you're on the other side of the world. Would hate to even think what the postage to the UK would be. Have to say, quite surprised about the prices, for what you're getting its not bad.

However may need to win lottery first. Not sure I can sneak a 6K buy past the wife. ;)

Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros.

The shipping is quite alright - when packed for shipping the system (trident) is just 42 cm x 42 cm x 105 cm and it weights 75 kg. fingers crossed I might get some demo units into uk in some stage :-)

Awesome. Looks like something I might like to have in the long run, like ten years from now. Just one question out of curiosity. How user upgradeable is this. I mean if one were to buy this now and in 5 or 10 years 4k projectors become really cheap, could one just swap out the projectors as an upgrade ?

Hi, the design is "future proof" - as long as the projectors will have reasonably short throw you can mount it and use it - so the upgrades can go on and on. The mirrors can be adjusted for new type of projectors and the mounts as well. you can use even standard throw 4k projectors now providing there is enough room behind or the projectors are fitted with short throw lenses.

I swear those seats have American Airlines upholstery on them. I work for American (until December 7th anyway..... ever notice how December looks like Dismember..... anyway.....) so I am very familiar with that upholstery type. That does look cool of course but its VERY VERY Bulky (as well as expensive I am sure). What I want to know is when we are going to get curved screens. They may not be any cheaper but, they WOULD take up less room.

I notice they do not put the price on the website... should we be scared?

By the way the pic of the player beside the A.I. Co-Pilot..... Priceless.

I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original.

"Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons.

"I've seen steering wheels / arcade sticks / flight sticks for over a hundred dollars; why be surprised at a 150 dollar item that includes the complexities of this controller?! It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown.

These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them.
