MBot Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 In this mission you will fly a 2-ship formation of A-10 on a strike sortie against a russian artillery battery. The russian side of the front is well defended by a magnitute of AD systems, including SA-6, SA-8, SA-9 and Shilkas. In order to succed this mission, you have to follow a carefully written attack plan wich will put the Hog into it's element: down low ! This mission was a lot of work, put I think it turned out quite good :) This mission was designed for Lock On 1.11, without labels. Slower machines might encounter low fps. Difficulty is medium-high ( I think ). Read the briefing carefully and take your time to study your route, the terrain and known enemy positions. Note ROEs regarding friendly SAM sites. Expect small arms fire in the target area, so don't forget to keep jinking. And of course, enjoy :)A-10_ArtilleryStrike.zip 1
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Just back from vacation and D/L'ed this to try out. Good to see you have found the time to put your missions out to a wider audience (via Lockonskins, Lockonfiles). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 OK - I managed to fly this one time, can't wait to try it again. Took a hit from one SAM but survived, dodged all the others (more luck than judgement), managed to kill one arty unit, got back to base so that counts as a success! Hope to kill more than one on the next attempt. Works pretty well on my v1.02 but obviously some things dont, like the radio tower(?) you put in as as a static object for the pop up point. I just memorized where it was and managed OK. Didn't get (or at least didn't notice) any small arms ground fire along the way. Unhid units in the editor afterwards to see where that would come from. I see you used BRDM's - I have always found (at least in v1.02) that they won't open fire on aircraft and I always use BTR-70 myself. Liked your method of implementing the possibility of friendly fire - cleverly done. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
