I made a simple mission to test JTAC. When I fly the mission during the day the JTAC will put the laser on for me but on the same mission when set to night he wont. Is this a bug?

AMD 955, Asus M4A79t, 12GB 1600 cas7 Mushkin red line and black line, EVGA 670 FTW, Samsung 840 SSD 250GB, Samsung spin point 620GB x3 extra storage.

I have been barking up that tree for a couple of days: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95433

Good luck getting acknowledgement.

So I'm not alone. So the question now is what can be done so the JTAC can see the target at night? Another question, Is the slew for tad and tgp bouncing some what for you guys since the new version?

Not too sure about the TAD cursor, but my TGP only bounces when I try to slew it whilst passing directly over the top of what I'm looking at - just in the stage where the camera is flipping round. I wouldn't say it is an issue, I would imagine its real life counterpart does a similar thing..

I don't know about the JTAC issue, if it was as simple as moving the target closer, I'm sure someone would have corrected me. It think it's pretty porked in general at the moment; there are multiple problems with it.

I the IR doesn't even work with the Predator, either.

IIRC you can force a JTAC to always be aware of the unit(s) you want it to target. As opposed to letting the AI find the unit based on its predefined searching abilities. Check out the GUI manual for a better explanation.

As to the nighttime visibility, if the targets start shooting at something chances are your JTAC will be able to detect them. I found this out by placing two groups of opposing infantry about 1000m away from each other (at night of course). I was flying around in the a10 hoping to watch some fireworks from 20,000 ft. But alas, they just stood there.

They only started to engage each other after I did a low pass and the enemy infantry started shooting at me.

I'll see if I can find a page number in the GUI manual that explains the first thing I described a bit better

Plenty of things need to get patched...but units not having unlimited detection abilities at night is not one of them.

Read the GUI manual...don't use enroute tasks for your JTACs if you want them to have (as the GUI manual puts it) perfect situational awareness. Instead use regular task: assign group.

Yeah, assign group - that is what it's on.

I spent a good 24 hours playing about with it and it's beyond me. Have a crack at it, put red and blue 20ft apart, one on hold fire, the other with disabled IA.

These JTAC guys just don't like the night. :megalol:

I put the Jtac very close and it worked. How ever my hotas seem to be porked. Went through controls and so on. Seems to be related to full screen in options. My head is about to explode!

Can't try it as I'm away from home for the weekend. If the JTAC is set to assign group and the groups are 20ft apart and it's giving you a type 3 then I'd say that sounds funky for sure.

Just as a test I'd try to rearrange your triggers so the group you want the JTAC to lase can engage. Fly your a10 right next to them and hit active pause. Let them shoot at you. Then check and see if your JTAC has visual contact and gives you a type 1
