AAR2: Su-25T Instant SEAD mission highlights

Hey guys,

 

Here is another one that I just flew today. I had to do this mission four times. I was hit in the first three attempts by SAMs and was almost about to head back to base on the third attempt to repair until my plane exploded in mid air. The engine was on fire for 2 min and I didn't consider shutting it down and coasting with the functional engine. :banghead:

 

Anyways, the fourth attempt, I got the wingman in the game and started it with a bang.

 

Target: 4 surface to air batteries before the Su-24 flight gets in to level some targets in the airbase.

The mission is set up such that within few seconds after start, you are within the detection zone of the SAMs and within 30sec-1min, you are within the launch zone. This meant immediate action.

This is the annoying thing about the wingman: Don't know what he is targeting and a waste of ordinance for me.

This is why I got shot the first 3 attempts of this mission: The angle of attack of the missile is to shallow and multiple missiles did not find their mark. Even in this attempt, it was the splash damage that finally put it out of commission.

 

Surface to air threats: Neutralized

 

It was right in time for the Su24 to carry on their pinpoint strike.

 

 

The wingman and I continued engaging the static missile launchers which were now just sitting ducks

 

 

Gun runs only...no missiles left.

 

Went pretty well. 4 targets with guns. Two targets splash in one run

Right approach

 

But uh oh.....mistake at the last few meters, too fast and did not flare early enough. Bounced....then correct and flare to reduce speed drastically.

 

Luckily the toads have extra strong landing gear to deal with rough landings.

 

Overall a fun mission. Next, time to tackle the campaign or single missions.
