Hey guys.

 

If unit is set to immortal it will still take damage from MP clients.

 

I set a tanker to immortal so noobs cant crash into it/shoot it down and ruin the mission for everyone else. But unfortunately this does not work that well... Look at the track. It's about 1 min long. When I shoot the tanker (I am the host of the session) nothing happens, but when my client buddy shoots at it, it takes damage.

 

I am not sure how this works for other units (Ground units, choppers) but I am sure this is a bug.

I assume. It is immortal to the host but not to clients it seems so I guess it does not matter on what side the client is. You fancy trying it out? PM me.

I've seen this issue before, but when I tried to reproduce it, the units were immortal for clients.

 

If the bug is more "dependable" now, maybe I can report it :)

Try out the track/included mission please, double check that the tanker is set to immortal, save , open and resave and whatever and let someone join your server. Let them shoot the tanker. Please report back. Cuz this is really what happens to me all the time. Immortal units are not really immortal.

Mh, thanks Tyger. On what units do you use immortal? I try to use it on a KC135 tanker.

 

On a couple of units that are part of the mission 'fluff' - the 'other' stuff going on building the mission scenario.

 

Inbound helicopters for example. I have noticed that Invisible doesn't always work, and completely random when it does work despite being set as such, so i make them immortal AND invisible, just in case.

 

I'm sure the testers have picked up on this.

I made this mission to test the "JTAC not there for join in progress clients", let a buddy of mine host and joined his game. By accident I found out that first of all - as soon as I spawn in the A-10 the BTRs start engaging me (invisible not working), also they damage me (immortal not working).

As far as i`m aware, Invisible and Immortal in the ME are for AI units only.

 

Having just tested the immortal settings in the GUI for the player, i can confrim that for me anyway, they do work.

Yeah, they work in singleplayer on yourself. If you put a CLIENT on invisible/immortal and test in a MP envorinment - does not work. Client is visible and killable. Client has to be CLIENT, not host. Host is somewhat weird.

Re-read the post.

 

Immortal will not work for client units, nor is it designed for that.

 

Set it in the GUI options for the mission.

 

If it doesn't work then, then fair enough, but don't mix the two separate 'immortal' settings on this thread. You are confusing yourself!
