I have noticed that when DCS went to 1.2.2 and introduced FC3, some previous coding for giving AI flights commands have disappeared.

When setting up an AI flight unit for task, Advcanced Actions, Start Enroute Task, the "Search Area Then Engage Zone" command has disappeared from the options.

I checked all of the differant task areas such as Escort, Intercept, Pinpoint Strike, Ground Attack, etc. and this options is missing from all the areas that they use to be located.

Has this AI command been removed intentionally or left out by accident??

Thanks

Are certain AI commands being left out because FC3 is not truly a DCS product and because of previous legal issues?????

No its by design. All of the AI tasks are filtered by the aircraft role selected. Escort role have escort task. CAP don't have intercept, ground attack, or stuff like that because they role is to perform a CAP. This is not something that has changed recently. Looking back at 1.1.1.1 it functions the same way.

So if a person is using Mission Editor to create a mission using an A-10C Warthog and he wants the AI flights to perform certain task such as "Ground Attack", the option for example, under Advanced Actions, Start Enroute Task, then "Search Area Then Engage Zone" command then he could assign which targets he wants attacked. Correct??? This command is available also for the Pinpoint Strike, Intercept and I also think the command is in Escort if I remember correctly.

This example is available for all of the DCS Products, A-10C Warthog, DCS Blackshark 2, DCS P-51D Mustang, and Su-25T.

But if you use Mission Editor for editing any existing missions in FC3, this command along with some other AI commands are not included in the FC3 Series. They are with all of the other products by DCS.

DISCOVERED ANSWER - Even if a person uses Mission Editor on prior missions which uses any of the flyable aircraft used in FC3, these missions can not be edited and have certain advanced commands show up. As long as a completely NEW mission is being created, then all of the commands are present and usable.

Thank you for your time.

The installation of FC3 doesn't really change the features of the mission editor. All installing FC3 (maybe) does is it makes the FC3 aircraft names appear in yellow in the selection box. Other than that its the same old DCS World editor available for all. On the otherhand changes made in the 1.2.2 update or future updates will apply to all regardless of which modules a user owns or has installed.

Again the waypoint tasks available are based entirely on what role (task) is selected for an aircraft.

Search and Engage are available for the following:

CAS

SEAD

Anti-ship

CAP

Fighter Sweep

Ground attack, pinpoint strike, and runway bombing all generic bombing tasks designed to attack a very specific target and are not really meant to "search" for a desired target

Can you post your mission file this occurs with so I can investigate the cause?

Yes I can. I have attached a stock mission which came out of FC2, "A-10A Airbase". Also I attached a copy of the error message what you receive if you attempt to save this mission after editing it in Mission Editor. Vampire and Vampire 2 are both trying to use the "Search Then Engage In Zone" at two differant locations. When I look in the Advanced Waypoint Actions in Mission Editor, these commands are not present in FC3.

I THINK I DISCOVERED THE ANSWER MYSELF. THESE LEVELS OF COMMANDS DID NOT EXIST IN FC2. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. It took me a while to discover this. Thanks again!

The whole AI tasking system had a major overhaul from the BS1/FC2 version to A-10C. As a result the way AI aircraft target fixed objects like airbases, points, or what have you changed. The functionality wasn't really removed, it was just changed to a better system.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but I just got back into the A-10C world, and

was excited about FC3 having some more mission/campaigns, to tide me over until

Nevada finally comes out.

I grabbed the MIZ files, and pulled them up in the mission editor, wanting to change

the A-10A aircraft into Charlie models, and go out and fly them.

The missions won't save as there are errors noted, as stated above, for an F-16

CAS flight, and EPRLS for an Avenger contingent, and all M1's.

All are noted as invalid actions, and the warning box they cannot be saved.

This was on missions one and 2, haven't gone any further.

In trying to select these mis-behaving groups, I get odd indications, like the Falcons

are suddenly "Player's" A-10C.

Have these items been looked into since November?
