Skall Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Are there any servers were a noob like me can join and just be a fly (warthog?) on the wall? I'd like to see how people play on serious or semi-serious mission but I know I'd be more detrimental than helpful if I tried to butt in. This is to get an idea of how I should direct my practice/studying so that I can eventually be competent enough to help.
Exorcet Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Most serious servers will disable external views and such which would make watching impossible. However, in the past people have been able to unzip tracks and enable views/labels. I'm not quite sure how that works, but maybe someone else might be able to help. Also, rather than just watching, I'd suggest flying along. Don't worry if you're not very good. Be up front about that and ask to tag along with someone as a wingman. I'd also suggest Teamspeak if you don't use it already to make communication much easier. For the basics, I think single player is good enough to gain competency, just cycle between training and missions. Skall Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 I'm sure I'll get a decent grip on the weapons and systems in single player. My concern is more on process and procedure. I don't know how multiple planes organize themselves, the full process for picking ingress and egress points, determining targets and attackers, calling attacks, etc. I have some vague inkling on a few of these things but I'd like to be certain. To me, hearing these people in action is just as, if not more so, important than seeing them work the various systems.
Devilman Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 just get in there and have a go. if you want to fly with some guys join up in a group/squad. im regularly hosting a training mission it has 'stuff to shoot' and 'stuff to do' and if you get far enough in there is plenty of 'stuff to avoid' www.S77th.com is our website. welcome to tag along on a mission any old time. next mission is on Saturday Night 8pm USEST [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Join Maddog Simulations DCS World Club & Squadrons for every module
Megagoth1702 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 As said before, it is best to pick a group to fly with and just talk to them, most people will help you out. I myself love teaching the a-10, it'S an awesome plane. :) http://spare-time-pilots.de/ I fly there all the time, get answers all the time and there is plenty to do most of the time. Casual but no noobstyle herp derp bullshit. Common sense really.
