I liked them...would love for there to be an option to enable them again. I have the DCS A-10 and I know it does not have tracers...Just wondering if there is a way to get them back somehow.

Anyone have any ideas? :smilewink:

Well...its an issue of realism. There are no tracers for the GAU8 cannon IRL...so I personally am glad to see them gone..but IIRC u can get tracers for training rounds. I must say though...I saw the ricocheting bullets in a video the other day and damn...I think i miss some of that ricochet effect from FC2. But I think we all know that it was a bit too much in FC2. There was no feedback of the cannon hit...almost felt like the tank was invulnerable. I love the current DCS world effect when rounds hit the tank....a lot more natural feeling.

Actually 30x173mm rounds are made with a tracer version. Can't remember the manufacturer, but there's a brochure available on the web with a tracer varient listed. If you watch some of the early a10/GAU-8 flight test videos you can also see some tracers in action. That being said, they're obviously extremely rare and probably almost never loaded.

It's easy to add a colored tracer effect to the rounds in sim. You need to find a file called "shell_table.lua" (I'm away for the holiday and can't remember the exact location/name)

Towards the bottom you'll find a couple of entries for the GAU-8 rounds. Hopefully you'll be able to figure it out from there, but if you can't I'lll post a detailed description when I'm back in front if the computer

System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

If its not too much trouble for you to do that for me ( and maybe a few others) I would really appreciate it.:)
