PFunk Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 First, let me say that I am one of those folks who does use the Game avionics and have no plans to try to learn the Sim avionics because I simply lack the time and do not have a full HOTAS and rudder pedal setup. Second, let me also say that the A-10C and BS2 Game Avionics are absolute GENIUS. I have been hunting for a decent successor to Jane's F-15 for years and I finally have it in A-10C and BS2. OK, to the bugs. This is true of all FC3 fighter aircraft. The same thing happens, no matter which plane I'm using and I know that in large part, it is due to the fact that we are stuck with ancient LOMAC architecture for FC and that includes the avionics. 1.) I can use the auto-lock-on key to target a plane and the little red square boxes in the targeted plane, but the green box (in the F-15 HUD) doesn't want to stay on the targeted plane. Any weapons fired at the target will fail to guide about 75% of the time. This is especially true of the Great White Hope, the AIM-7. The Russian aircraft do a little better in this regard. The Fulcrum and Flanker's locked reticle (the green circle) will stay on the targeted aircraft. However, again, most weapons fired will go dumb and fail to guide, about 75-80% of the time. 2.) I can usually switch to and engage a maxiumum of two targets before I can no longer switch to any new targets no matter how much I press the auto-lock-on-to-next-target key. The avionics just go dead. Nothing happens. Now, I know my concerns are very low on the totem pole because most of the users here use the Sim settings. Just thought I'd mention these. Or, you could always figure out how to put the Game avionics from A-10C and BS2 in there and I'd be absolutely thrilled.
USAFMTL Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 When you use the auto lock does it like blink really fast as you keep trying to do it? [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
PFunk Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 The acquisition reticle for the Russian birds will blink for a second or two, the F-15's reticle won't even stay on its target.
Mar Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 The same problem exists for FC2. With game avionics BVR radar does not work. I tried it in the F-15 instant action missions, the enemy could shoot me from 20 miles away all day long and all I could do was shoot maddogs. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
USAFMTL Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Set up a mission where your target does not have a jammer then try it. [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
PFunk Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Jammer does not seem to make an appreciable difference. Missiles still going dumb. Way dumb.
USAFMTL Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 On a non jamming target can you lock on? [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
PFunk Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 No. Target reticle still leaves the target.
USAFMTL Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Hmm not what I thought it might be then. [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
