Hi all

Here is what im trying to do.

I'm building a mission in which i need to keep the pilots below 300 AGL. I have heard using a flagging system is the way to go, but i have no clue how to make this work.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

When you enter the mission editor and the triggers editor, you have an option in the middle column in the drop down list, something like: object object_name altitude is lower/higher then altitude_value .

Yes i saw that, its Unit highter than and you enter a number followed by whatever action you want to happen as a result of it. I attchaed that to a zone...i have flown my A-10 into that zone many times and then broke the 300 AGL with nothing triggering.

Somone told me you have to add a flag on, then off to make this work but didnt give specifics

and the 300 AGL is that Meters or Feet?

I think the units are set depending on whether you have imperial or metric checked in options.

What are you trying to trigger when you fly above 300? Make it a message or an explosion on your plane so you know its working.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

i have it set to metric, what im trying to do, is i have my pilots flying thru a canyon, i want to keep them below 300 AGL...if they break it..it spawns an alert flight i have tied to the zone.

I just played with moving the point next to the runway, not on it but a little ways out ..i set the alt for 100 which should be 300 ft. however sitting on the runway triggered it. my ALT sitting on the run way is 1200 ..so im not sure its going off of AGL

For this kind of thing, the simulator scripting engine is vastly superior.

If you use the simulator scripting engine, you can even have your detection based off of line of sight or even a radar detection model!

I can provide you with the scripts if you are interested. The only thing you will have to do is give the scripts the name of the units you want the scripts to operate on, and what flags you want to be set true when the detection conditions occur.

Keeping in mind that the scripting engine can take into account target radial velocity towards/away from radar, whether or not the target is against a sky background or a terrain background, target above ground level, radar location, line of sight conditions, etc. etc., what do you want the rules to be on your detection script? Most likely, I have a script very similar to what you want already cooked up, or at least, I could make you a script within a few minutes time. And if all you want just 300 feet AGL, I can make that too.

You do not have to install a mod, though if you wanted to, Slmod does have an already-cooked-up units_LOS function.

That would be nice speed you can tell me about it in the 16th's team speak :)

OK, I thought this might have been you. I'll be there in about half an hour :)

A bit old, but... LOL

i've made some time ago before script was "official" a mission where you needed to stay below 100m AGL from Maykop to Tuapse. What a pain the my A** so much triggers, switched conditions etc... Add that speed detection segments...

The major problem i had, was the Editor just wanted MSL, not AGL.

If AGL were there, it would be trivial.

I still don't know where to start to learn DCS scripting engine.

If someone could provide me a nicely scripted mission, that would be easier for me to understand than those explanatory lines on wiki.

Edit : Well, Mist seems to be more precise than some months ago. will take a look. but i still like real examples ;)
