Bexx0r Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Hi there! I was thinking about ordering two additional monitors in order to setup a multi-monitor cockpit. I read somewhere that the main monitor, which would be the one on my laptop, needs to stand on the left side. Is this true? If so, it would be quite difficult to use the keyboard, when rotated 45° to the left. I thought about two more 15" or 17" monitors, which I would love to place left and right of my laptop. Furthermore, do you think my laptop can handle two more monitors? Laptop: ASUS N55SF I hope there is no other thread about this. Search didn't give out results for me. Thanks a lot! PeterP Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) It don't has to be on the left - but it makes things a lot easier. You can create a profile that switches the left most to the main when DCS is active or just use the "Phantommonitorfix". Before thinking about configuration and the workload for your GPU: You should be much more concerned if your GPU really let you use the VGA and HDMI port simultaneously while the Laptop monitor is running. My experience is that you can use only one at a time so you can only hook up one additional display. Please make some tests beforehand! Edited December 13, 2012 by PeterP
Bexx0r Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 Aren't there some kind of adaptors where you can put in both monitors and then connect it to the laptop? ......................................................... PeterP Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) Yes , you are talking about a Matrox TH2GO or a DualH2G. Than you have no problems to hook Three monitors up. - but you won't be able to configure the setup that your Laptop-monitor is in the middle. When you use a Matrox adapter you can't split the output of it into separate monitors. Windows is seeing the Matrox adapter only as one monitor - and not two/three new ones. So the contend of the Laptop-monitor can't be shown in the middle. It has to be the left or the right portion. ...and I didn't mentioned it, as your question clearly states that you want the Laptop-monitor in the middle. edit: And a USB adapter would be probably to slow/laggy and resource intensive. OK for normal Office work , but to slow at higher resolution (1024x768 and up) and DX applications. Edited December 13, 2012 by PeterP
Bexx0r Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 Ah okay, I see. Thanks a lot! I will have some thoughts on this and get on it as soon as I have proper headtracking, because that is priority #1 at the moment. Thanks for the quick replies!
