Sierra99 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Hey guys, Got a quick question regarding TARS... Not sure I understand what it's good for. As far as I can tell, everyone who wants to chat in game still has to be in the same teamspeak server for it to work. Yes, the controls in the aircraft "work" but all they are is another layer on top of a working teamspeak installation. Or am I missing something? Documentation is pretty thin. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. SmokeyTheLung Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) I don't think you're missing anything, TARS simply allows teamspeak/DCS users to coordinate radio channels in a more realistic way. The biggest benefit is not having to listen to inter-flight chit chat that may be irrelevant to what you/your flight is doing. You could also set up a common frequency for flight leads to coordinate the big picture. Pretty amazing piece of software for the right users. If you're more of a lone gun, jump into DCS/teamspeak to kill stuff kind of flyer, the benefits might be lost Edited December 25, 2012 by SmokeyTheLung System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

I/we thought it allowed you to communicate >VIA< the radios in the Aircraft. that would be great... but seemed too good to be true. In the end, setting Teamspeak up for PTT and separate Channels for different flights achieves the same end without the extra program. Thanks for the info. Chriz6662 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 yes you use the radios in the aircraft. Look at that video:
