Bezel Compensation

Ive been using eyefinity for a while. The problems that come with eyefinity is tearing. I moved my monitors around to put the tearing to the right screen. Now for some reason my center monitor is acting up. Im getting something like tearing but in small spots on my center screen. In the past I did a test with my 3 screens setup in windows and then typed my full res in the the game. Tearing went away but I had no bezel compensation. I see where bezel compensation is working with SoftTH but im not understanding quite how to do it. I have 3 1680x1050 monitors. Res. is 5040x1050 with bezel compensation it was 5292x1050. If someone could guide me it would be cool.

 

I dont realy want to get rid of eyefinity from windows but what else should I do.

Hi,

the 5040 by 1050 is correct. You have to compensate the frames by modifying your view direction in your MonitorSetup\YourMonitorSetup.lua. For the left monitor set the view to

viewDx = -1.09;

viewDy = 0;

for the mid monitor

viewDx = 0;

viewDy = 0;

and for the right monitor

viewDx = 1.09;

viewDy = 0;

The .09 value covers roughly your monitor frames.

towsim's instruction can only be used when you use the "3 screen" setting in your "Monitors" option of DCS.

 

When you use "1 Screen" you have to do it via SoftTH.

 

Please post your configSoftth.config and I will make the needed adjustments for you.

Than you can compare and learn.

 

 

 

BTW: The "3Screen" in DCS is meand to be used on a angled (Ideally 90°) setting with a static viewpoint (no trackir) at 90° FOV .

So I think that you are using SoftTH to overcome the (strange) tearing issue you have right now .

 

So please give us all info so it is much less guesswork for us to help you.

 

Now you have two options:

 

How is your DCS setting? : "1 Screen" or "3 Screen" ?

 

A "1 Screen"

 

Do you ever used SoftTH ?

PeterP let me start over from here. Eyefinity is giving me the problems with tearing . I want to try SoftTH to run three monitors at 1 screen setting in dsc to see if it stops.Ive never used SoftTH before. Acording to SoftTH im to put 4 files in game subdirectory system or bin. I put the 3 dll and 1 cfg in to dscworld/bin floder. then im to run the game with center screen as main monitor right.

No, it's wrong.

SoftTH has only 1 dll.

You posted the configSoftTh.config that was created by SoftTH version 2.08b while running for the first time.

You Used a bezel compensation of 126 each bezel while running in Eyefinity mode - but this gave you a tearing...., (this is still strange).

 

I made now a configSoftTH.config that has the Bezel-compensation in-cooperated. - my changes to your default one are in Bold.

Now you need to set DCS to 5292x1050 in the options.

Do it by just typing it in.

 

If that fails:

Open the C:\Users\>your user name<\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua

 

and edit line #53 to this:

and in the same file line #49 to this:

 

 

["height"] = 1050,

and in the same file line #40 to this:

 

 

 

["aspect"] = 5.04,

Than set DCS to Fullscreen and start the Sim.
