Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Dogfight Mission Pack 3.1c page I updated this Eagle mission pack made in April to 1.1.1. Originally this pack was made for Lock On 1.02 and it no longer worked as it should with 1.1.1 - now they are fully playable again as I balanced these missions in the same style of Carrier Ops, a pack I made recently for the Su-33. The briefings for these are new, they indicate when you can take advantage of the fact that you will be flying very close to your base so you can land there to refuel and re-arm. When you fly these missions, take advantage of NATO defenses and avoid flying near Russian ones, if you flew the Carrier Ops missions - you will know where the Russian defenses are, because they are the same. Another thing - Novorossijsk runway is VERY short, be careful landing there, I ended up in the sea more than once. (Lockonfiles requires registration to download)

Honestly Thomas, how many times does it take you to successfully complete one of your average missions? Are you able to beat them consistantly or only sometimes? I am just curious? ;) p.s. you didn't answer about the puffy cloud mod? is this ok?
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 I am making a track for every mission in this pack - Then I'll do the same for the Carrier Ops. I am on mission 3, I finished it twice, but the SEAD flight for some reason turned back ! so I ended up with a failure. Cowards! :D Another time I got a blue on blue ! I could not believe it! I shot down a Su-24 with a Sparrow instead of the MiG I was aiming at. I got curious - how many bogies are on this mission? so I opened and counted six that matter. It felt like there were many more! I try at least 10 times before I finish a mission - because not one mission flies like the one before and I try as I might, I keep making the same mistakes (like flying to close to those SAM - the fool that I am :-( ) One mistake and you get shot down. So at least there is a lot of re-playability because of the way the AI reacts , the thing is to find were to fight, there is always a spot were you hold the advantage, find it and you accomplish the mission. - p.s. you didn't answer about the puffy cloud mod? You mean the one Mitch Janssen made ? A beauty and fully FC compatible.
Gazehound Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 I would love a track of one or two of your dogfightpack missions if you have them. Like the one where you have to take off from an airbase besiged by fighters, protect your 3 wingmen as they amble along the long taxiway to the active, intercept a high level flight (somewhere) of RBTs on observation before they make it back to base, avoiding the fighter sweeps backed by AWACS and not losing a friendly :D VVS504 Red Hammers
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 This weekend I'll upload tracks for all missions for 3.1, then I'll do it for Carrier Ops. One difficulty in making them, is that if I get shot down and jump to my wingman I loose the track, a pity that ED did not fix this problem.
Gazehound Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Hey dont feel like you have to do that mate, I meant if you have them anyway :D VVS504 Red Hammers
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Not at all, it is fun to fly them. When you are making a mission (one takes a week) you don't really enjoy flying them as much, because you keep a critical eye all the time - now I can enjoy it and gripe why that fighter has to pop up or that SAM is so close to me!
