Luzifer Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I would love to see the power lines look more realistic. Everytime I see them now, I can't help being amazed how ridiculously thick the wires are. If there's a bunch of them close together, you could almost hide a helicopter behind them! They really should be rendered with a much smaller width, so that at a distance they would blend with and only darken the background. After all, this is what they look like in real life up close: Photo 1, Photo 2. It would be really nice to see this fixed. As it is right now, the wires are one of the most unrealistic looking features of the scenery.
Suchacz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 You are totally right. But it has been already discussed earlier, see that thread here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1479471#post1479471 The result was, that those power lines are hard-coded so they can not be changed. :( Per aspera ad astra! Luzifer Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Oh, that is too bad.:( I don't understand how it can be so hardcoded that it can't be changed though. Even if they are rendering them as lines there is a way (at least in OpenGL) to set their width, including to less than 1.0 if they're antialiased. They are really an eyesore, so it's a bit ironic that they are so proudly highlighted as a scenery feature in the DCSW overview video. Especially when the view then pans over a spot where two overland lines cross at the same height so that the wires literally cross.
