statrekmike Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 So, I am not super awesome with the editor but I have been slowly learning on my own, anyways, I built a mission where there are several groups that spawn after specific triggers are met, that all happens as planned but I have found a bit of a snag. Okay, so I have a group of friendly units (MBT's and IFV's) that go to the enemy depot once you have secured it, the idea is that you are to help them kill two groups of enemy vehicles that spawn once that friendly group gets into it's final waypoint, the problem is that they don't attack the enemy groups, they just sit there and allow themselves to get killed by the AI enemies. I tried to set them to attack those enemy groups but it does not let me designate a target for them in the advanced waypoints options at all, is this because the enemies spawned after the friendly unit spawned? can they not attack a unit that spawns after they do?
Druid_ Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) Can you attach you mission to a post and then someone can take a look at it. This behaviour is certainly strange and incorrect. I take it that you have not played around with the advanced waypoint options and set them to ROE 'Hold Fire' ? I'm having a very similar problem. AFAIK You cannot get a vehicle unit to attack a specific target, as you can with AI aircraft. This is very interesting: can they not attack a unit that spawns after they do?. I'm going to test that and will get back to you.

Druid_ Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) It does appear that AI behaviour is affected by late activation and I have reported it to the Developer concerned. However late activated units will attack each other. Your issue is unit specific. You have pitted Main Battle tanks against armoured personnel carriers and AAA soft vehicles. The Blue MBTs pick your reinforcements off 1 by 1 since the MBT has a much greater engagement range. Even the Rangers that head off to the North get in on some of the action. In short the Blues have a much longer engagemtn range. This can be seen by the range circle when you first place a unit on the map. When checking a mission, save the track file. Then replay the track file and using the F10 map and selecting a unit and then F7 you can work out what is going on, who is engaging who and with what etc. Edited March 9, 2013 by Druid_ i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
