camsr Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 So far: Bought a10c on STEAM DID NOT LAUNCH WITH X64 OR X86. X86 activated but collapsed after that. GOT DCS WORLD NOW, cannot launch DCS WORLD! It came up to the splash screen and crashed at 10% loading. Running as Admin made no difference. The multiplayed launcher crashed immediately with error code 0xc0150002. This might be windows related. I have some GP settings that are pretty strict, but almost everything I throw at it works. This is the only game so far that has given me problems. Besides the fact I payed 40$ on STEAM for the game when it was 20$ at DCS, I would really like to play it. If anyone can provide assistance, I appreciate it. The installation was successful, so I think it's possible to rule out any file corruption. FWIW, the failed launch did NOT generate a .crash file. Running DCS_PROTECT.EXE from DCSWORLD reports fatal error (5.70.043.001, 12.03.13) Detailed error info: Type: class LUnicodeStringException Location: unsigned int __cdecl UserInterface::RunHelperInternal(class LUnicodeString, class LUnicodeString, unsigned int, unsigned int) Line: 1655 Message: Unable to run application "E:\EagleDynamics\bin\dcs_protect.x64", using ShellExecuteEx, error code 2
ENO Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) cam... looks like your blending problems a bit here between the steam install and world environments. First... the Steam Version (1.1.1.1) isn't even worth downloading- but purchasing on steam isn't the issue. You've purchased it- delete the download you got from STEAM... you don't need it. What you will need, however, is your user key that you get from Steam... you get 10 activations with each purchase (you just can't use any two activations on the same server). Go to ED's DCS download page. Download World and A-10C module. These will both be 1.2.3 version files. Make sure you actually load the C++ file... even if it looks old. I think you need to run the DX9 (edited) one as well (even if you don't think you do, at least try to). A lot of guys think they don't need to do that and skip it... which results in many errors if not prevent launching entirely. Once World is loaded, then load A-10C Module. I'll also recommend just downloading the torrent file if you can... otherwise you have to download ALL 4 files (3 bin files and one exe I believe) and put them in the same folder. Frankly, I find the torrent easier but both are technically pretty easy. Edited March 22, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. camsr Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Is my post unclear? I've installed DCS WORLD and it is crashing at the loading splash screen.
EtherealN Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 If you don't get a crash file, you should be able to find logs in Windows Event Viewer. (Simply search for Event Viewer in the start menu, though it might be called something else if your windows is localized.) The C++ note that ENO left is relevant. Without knowing what the specific crash is, it is hard to say, but the installer does ask if you want the MS C++ redistributable. This is worth getting and not having it can cause problems. If you did tell it to include it in the install, then it's something else. (The links can be found in the FAQ in my signature) Not having the right DirectX can also cause this to happen, though ENO got the version wrong: it is DirectX9c that is required. This is required even if you have Dx10 or Dx11. Most computers do have it already, but worth checking. The specific error code does however leed me to suspect that installing the C++ redistributable will solve the issue, if you did not already do so. Most likely caused by missing dll files on your system. You can find links to the C++ redist here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=997667&postcount=8 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Jankin Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Try to disable you'er antivirus program before the install of DCS World, and see if you can get "the world" to work before you install the A-10C module. I did have some trouble installing DCS World, but disable my NOD32 under the installation did the trick for me. And do the same with MS C++ redistributable for X86 and X64.
ENO Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Thanks ETherealN... Corrected the DX9 in my post. In addition, Camsr- you don't post anything about your system specs. If you're running it on a 32bit OS that could be causing your issues if you don't implement that 32bit OS fix that needs to be applied. It could be insufficient RAM... it could be a bad Overclock... unfortunately we can't tell because you don't tell us anything. We don't even know what OS you're running. So while your post wasn't "unclear" it was "incomplete." Punch in a couple more details and we can take another crack at it. camsr Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Okay I am using Vista x64 SP2, I did install the redist with the DCS installation, I am pretty sure I have DX9c as I play Half life 2 which uses DX9. I ran DXDIAG and it said I have version 11, but nothing about 9. I will reinstall the redist. ENO Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 How much RAM and which video card are you running? Any overclock? Hopefully that is the missing link- if not... just a bit more info needed so we can keep plugging away at it with you. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. ENO Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Any luck? Hoping you haven't come back because you're busy playing... but I'll keep my eye open. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
camsr Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Yes, the 2008 redist solved it. Really, make a sticky or something with the necessary packages.
