Uninstall/Reinstall module

What's the procedure for uninstalling/reinstalling A-10C now under DCS World ?

If you wish to uninstall just the A-10 module you can use one of the batch files attached to this post.

Re-installation is the same as you did originally, of course.

Thanks, the command prompt flashed & nothing else happened. Also is it still necessary to deactivate ?

It sounds like it worked. I have never used those files but that sounded right.

 

Regarding deactivation, that would not be necessary if you plan on reinstalling. The new install will find the activation in the registry and all will be good.

Thanks for the deactivation info. Still don't know about the other. Maybe because I have a license. That link was for unlicensed module.

Those bat files will simply issue a uninstall command. There is no difference between having a license or not having a license in this case - though of course most people don't feel a need to uninstall unless they installed something by mistake.

 

As mentioned in the post of mine that was linked: a flashing window (first a black, then maybe a small grey depending on how fast the machine can do it - I need to look VERY close to see the second one on my computer and even then not always) is indication that it worked. If it didn't work, you'd have received an error message.

 

Deactivations are necessary only if you intend to move the license to another computer, in which case the deactivation allows you to re-use that activation on the new computer (or new operating system if on the same computer but with new OS).

Thanks EtherealN, but I really don't understand what the .bat file has done if the A-10C folder is still there. Should I manually delete the folder before I reinstall the A-10C module ?

Are their any files in the A-10C folder? The uninstall will not remove files that were not part of the original installation so mods will be left behind and this will, of course, leave their parent folder as well.

 

I see this whenever I uninstall DCS World as well.

The A-10C folder is untouched.

In that case, I will have to leave this in the hands of those that created the updater. Sorry I could not be of more help.

I'll do some re-tests on the bats, might be the relevant commands were changed for 1.2.3 (they were created on 1.2.2) in preparation for the "official" module uninstall support. Will have ot get back on that.
