milouia Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hello, I'm new to DCS World and just purchased A10,P51D and K50. It's weird that every time I want to start a mission(no matter which typ of mission),it jumped to windows and stopped at this window and give me no more response. I'm using Windows 8 x64 and Intel i5 with 8GB RAM. I reinstalled windows and DCS,but it didn't help. If I keep tryiny un-/reinstall,I won't have many "activation" left.. I have no idea what is the problem and need some help here. Thanks!
ENO Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) Not knowing anything other than that I'll go through the normal checklist: 1) Installed the latest DCS World first, along with all the attached files including the C++ "repair" and DX9 redist files. Don't skip over those. Install them. 2) Installed your modules- latest version 1.2.3. Again, I don't even take the chance and when given the opportunity to install the C++ and DX9 Redist I'll do it. (Probably unnecessary but hey- mine works.) 3) If you're playing single player it should, at that point, be point and shoot. 4) If you're playing multiplayer make certain your speed setting in the MP options menu is set to LAN only- regardless of your connection speed. 5) If you're in windowed mode or have elaborate screen setups make sure aero interface is turned off. I recommend dropping down to one screen only for now until your problems are figured out. 6) In some cases having certain peripherals attached can cause problems. Try starting the game with no game controllers attached. Sometimes a "reboot" has helped people with unimaginably simple problems. Install the programs along with associated software, then simply reboot. Also read this from a guy in simhq: Okay--it appears I had a 'duh' moment. Apparently running the downloaded 1.2.3. modules installation .exe from the win-7 download directory is 'bad'--as it was creating a corrupt saved games files. apparently, installing the modules from the desktop after downloading, seems to have solved the issue altogether--and all is now right with the world. This maybe standard practice for most folks, or perhaps it was mentioned in one of the readme files, but I do not recall seeing it. Anyway, I have now successfully loaded and tested the P-51 and A-10 1.2.3. and each is working and saving fine now including SU-25 missions. Thanks for all your suggestions and assistance guys. milouia Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 Thank you for the reply. I tried everything you told me but it didn't work. Maybe all I should do is just waiting for a 1.2.4 patch:( Not knowing anything other than that I'll go through the normal checklist: 1) Installed the latest DCS World first, along with all the attached files including the C++ "repair" and DX9 redist files. ENO Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 (edited) If I keep tryiny un-/reinstall,I won't have many "activation" left.. I wouldn't worry about that- you get 10 and I'm quite certain that the key is kept "somewhere" on your comp despite a reinstall. If not I'm sure that's something they can sort out later. I'd be looking hard at downloading again and reinstalling- provided you've done a repair dcs world already and had no luck. Go in there right now and start up a mission... get to the screen... exit out as you normally do. Then go into C/user/saved games/dcs/logs/ and grab the dcs.log file. If you can't see your extensions it may just look like a wordpad / notepad document. Zip it up or copy and paste it here. I may not be much help with it but sometimes I get lucky. Or someone else may see something. Also- what kind of hard drive are you saving to? Edited April 6, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. milouia Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Thank you for your advices. After changing my graphic card from Nvidia 260GTX to AMD Radeon 7950, the problem is now solved! I have no idea what was wrong with my old 260GTX,but this works:smartass: To anyone who has similar problems, try to change your graphic card driver or even the card itself(I know it costs, but it does work for me) I wouldn't worry about that- you get 10 and I'm quite certain that the key is kept "somewhere" on your comp despite a reinstall.
