Within the current game engine, could a multi-engine, cargo/troop carrier type aircraft even be modelled as a primary module? What makes it so difficult to share a single airframe over the net in DCS? C-130 has surely got to be at the top of somebodies development list. Captain Sim where you at?

There are no technical limitations keeping it from happening, and while the framework for multiplayer vehicle crews is not yet in place, it is certainly possible to implement. The Belsimtek UH-1H Huey will be the first DCS module of a multiperson crew aircraft. Although it won't feature multiplayer crew at beta release, the player will be able to jump between crew stations while in flight I think, and multiplayer may come later. It is not a stretch at all to extend that to a multi-engine fixed wing transport, and honestly I am surprised that none have been announced yet at this point, considering the popularity of FSX and X-Plane. Maybe more will be done after the Huey sets a precedent for a multicrew transport aircraft.

IMO (don't kill me! :) ) FSX favors heavies because there is nobody trying to shoot you down and the environment (world) is well... worldwide.

Contrast that to DCS (without EDGE)... LOTS of threats... SAMs and Fighters all over, plus relatively small maps. In a heavy you have the RCS of a freight train.

Now... it would be pretty awesome if they added lots of features like Inr212 mentioned... primarily the ability to actually transport things and then dump them out... think about combining that with Combined Arms (neat).

I think this is where ED / DCS is going, so keep giving them your money like me! :)

Cheers!

It would be nice to fly for 3 hours, call for sead, fighter support and finally be able to watch the troops waving as you drop them several cases of beer :megalol:

I agree some multi engine heavy aircraft would be real interesting because the only way they can make it anywhere is good planning and team work.

Create Fast Mission, Advanced Mode, Forces, Red, None.

As it is not imposed, I would consider the ability to be shot at an advantage over FSX. DCS also has better flight modeling, systems modeling, and damage modeling, all of which have a place in civil or heavy simulator.

and the environment (world) is well... worldwide.

And that is the main shortcoming. Hopefully with EDGE we will see more expansive terrain, even if the world is still flat. Opening up terrain development to third parties could resolve the problem.
