TimeKilla Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Am upgrading my PC soon and don't want to waste any of my activations, could someone explain how you deactivate a key and when you should do it, If I upgrade my PC can I still deactivate my key or does it need to be done before upgrading my hardware. When am talking about upgrading am talking about just hardware and not reinstalling windows. Am just a'little lost with this I didn't think the key was tied into your hardware to me it just looks like a normal key will I get a new key when I upgrade my hardware or use the same one I got from the website. :helpsmilie: :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube.
EtherealN Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) This depends on which hardware you are looking to upgrade. If it includes the CPU you will need to deactivate. If it is multiple components (and not just, say, replacing a graphics card), I would also suggest deactivating. You can deactivate through the protect.exe files in the ..\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\XXXX\bin\ folder of your DCS World installation. EtherealN Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Nothing to be unsure about. If you ever run out, you get new activation automatically after 30 days. You will never run out except for 30 that day waiting period. Kilo hairline Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I just replaced my motherboard after a failure of the old one. I was able to reactivate my a-10 module after using your registry cleaner tool...but no joy with my p-51 module. If I just un-install and re-install DCS world and my two modules will I be able to re-activate then? Will un-install automatically de-activate my keys?

If you want to run protect.exe I think. It's in the bin folder in the DCS WORLD folder. Edited April 12, 2013 by Jona33 Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Kilo hairline Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I guess I could use some help from an admin to know where I stand. After I replaced my failed MOBO I sent an email to customer support and I got an automated response with vague instructions to run a file that was not present in my installation. Basically, I was unable to activate, or de-activate through the program file after replacing my MOBO and CPU....so I un-installed DCS world and placed all remaining files in the recycle bin...currently re-downloading DCS world and modules..... What now????
Kilo hairline Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 protect.exe didn't work. I had the option to reactivate or submit a report when I ran it and re-activation failed because of hardware changes. Unfortunately because by MOBO failed I was unable to de-activate before hardware replacement...now I am in limbo... and looking for official help.
