Niehorst Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Mates, does anybody know why it's still not possible to load an existing controller profile after an new installation of our beloved DCS World??? As far as I can remember that never worked before with any module/Title. (correct me if I'm wrong...) Really annoying if we consider the number of aircrafts we already have... Searched the forum, but nobody seems to have an answer...:( :pilotfly: NZXT H400i case i9 9900k @ 4,9GHz (cooled by NZXT Kraken X62 4x140Fan - Push/Pull) Asus RoG Maximus XI Gene with 32GB G.Skill CL14 Samsung M.2 970Pro 1000GB ZOTAC RTX 2080ti Triple Fan 11GB 34" RoG Swift Curved TFT runs smooth like Beck's Gold :D HTC VIVE pro eYe (still freaking out!) cichlidfan Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I don't recall anyone saying that you can't do that. I do it all the time when I re-install the same version. The only thing that has ever been at issue is using a profile created on a previous version. That can cause problems because almost every update has made a change to the control maps. Niehorst Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 strange... I always encounter this problem. Just had to reinstall my system after moving in a smaller case on my new µATX Board. Every time I load my controler profile, everything ist totally messed up. Pitch on the pedals and other crazy stuff just like the default settings. Before I had the patched version 1.2.3. For the new installation I downloaded everything again... Perhaps that would be the "different" version..? NZXT H400i case i9 9900k @ 4,9GHz (cooled by NZXT Kraken X62 4x140Fan - Push/Pull) Asus RoG Maximus XI Gene with 32GB G.Skill CL14 Samsung M.2 970Pro 1000GB ZOTAC RTX 2080ti Triple Fan 11GB 34" RoG Swift Curved TFT runs smooth like Beck's Gold :D HTC VIVE pro eYe (still freaking out!) I noticed you said 'controller profile' as in just one, but you also mentioned pedals. Each controller has its own profile. You need to save a profile for each controller. Notice how they each have their own column in the Options screen. You have to save the correct column and load it back into the correct column (and Sim/Game mode) for everything to end up the way you had it. Niehorst Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) So I have to create 3 profiles? (stick, throttle and pedals) But that would be for all aircrafts, or? Hope I didnt' get it wrong: By clicking in the related column I let the machine know which (controller) profile I want to create/save? I'll give that a try... cichlidfan Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) For each controller, that has a separate column in the options screen, you need to save a separate file (name them well). Yes, you will also need to do this for each aircraft, which is why good filenames will be important later. The DCS World Users Guide has more information if you need it. It is in the Doc folder in your main install folder. EDIT: Yes. To select the controller, click on any box in the column under that controller name. Do the same when you are importing the files. This will save both button and axis settings for that column into the file. Niehorst Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 thanks for your support mate..! can't wait to check it out. I would never had that idea on my own. But now it makes sense that you can only save/load profiles after you select a cell or as we now know a column... :music_whistling: NZXT H400i case i9 9900k @ 4,9GHz (cooled by NZXT Kraken X62 4x140Fan - Push/Pull) Asus RoG Maximus XI Gene with 32GB G.Skill CL14 Samsung M.2 970Pro 1000GB ZOTAC RTX 2080ti Triple Fan 11GB 34" RoG Swift Curved TFT runs smooth like Beck's Gold :D HTC VIVE pro eYe (still freaking out!) Devrim Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 But DCS has a problem with "modifiers". In two conditions I'm having trouble with modifier. 1) For example I installed a new version of DCS and loaded HOTAS profile. In this case DCS doesn't recognize my modifier (Or DCS doesn't save modifier(s) with profile). <- This bug still exits in v1.2.3.10201 2) Sometimes I launch DCS without HOTAS to check/correct someting or install a mod etc.etc. Later I launch DCS with HOTAS, I see that modifier is lost and related lines are red! cichlidfan Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Regarding item 1... The modifiers are not stored in the profiles that you save/export. They are stored in a separate file modifiers.lua. for item 2... I have found that DCS can get confused if it sees a new, missing or different controller than it was used to. I use Target for my controller profiles and I always run Target before starting DCS no matter what I am doing. This seems to keep things from going wonky. ;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!
