xcom Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Hi, We would like to add Combined Arms to our PVP missions to control the ground units and give vectors to Attack airplanes such as the A-10 and the SU-25T. While trying to add this option we found out there are some limitations that won't let us get the setting that we want for our PVP, these are the settings that we plan to use - 1. Each side has 1 ground force commander. 2. There are multiple moving ground units all over the map. 3. The difficulty settings are totaly realistic - no icons on the map, no labels, no outside views etc... 4. Sam sights will be static and would be generally known in the briefing. 5. There will be 3 main objectives for the ground forces for each side - a. Air base defence. b. Enemy Air base attack. c. 3rd undisclosed objective for each side. With these settings, we want the ground force commander to control the ground forces attack, defence, 3rd objective attack and to be a human GCI and help vector the attack planes to enemy ground forces. So far I can't seem to find a way for these settings to work, either the ground force commander can't see the other sides units or the units are visible to all players. Any suggestions anyone? or maybe some guide lines how the CA is ment to be implimented into missions? Paganus Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) Under my client options: in Gameplay- Map only in Misc- F10 allow In the mission options in the ME- check F10 view options and map only. With this setup, in a multiplayer game, on the F-10 map, the ground commanders will be able to see their teams units but never see the opfor units. IMHO this works well if you have some JTACs to call in air strikes, but if the Ground commander is solo you might want to consider the Fog of War setting. At least then the they can direct air strikes from the F10 map without having to enter a vehicle like a JTAC. Edited April 28, 2013 by Paganus
mwd2 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 if you set Fog of War, you should think about to hide the units (aircrafts and/or ground vehicles) Playing: DCS World Intel i7-13700KF, 64GB DDR5 @5600MHz, RTX 4080 ZOTAC Trinity, WIN 11 64Bit Prof. Squadron "Serious Uglies" / Discord-Server: https://discord.gg/2WccwBh Ghost0815
xcom Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks for these thoughts. If we enable Fog of war than not only the side commander will know where the opfor is but also the planes in the air... this makes it difficult for the attack planes to be alive for long as the fighters would see them in the F10 and could find them easily. Is there a way to enable fog or war to the side commander only and not to all the users? Regarding the JTAC option, it is good for A-10C but Su-25T has no interface to get vectors to targets...
