wess24m Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Doing combat turns in DCS Huey, this is useful when landing in a hurry or turning to engage. Also makes follow up attacks easier because you can run in, strafe targets turn out and extend at full speed then turn back in while at a lower speed to afford you time to line up on target. P.S Does anybody know how to embed the video in the post? Edited May 5, 2013 by wess24m
Adi Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Nice vid! I was surprised to find out how much you can really throw this bird around without damaging it.....until it's time to land.
wess24m Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Nice vid! I was surprised to find out how much you can really throw this bird around without damaging it.....until it's time to land. Thank you. I'll be making a high speed deceleration video today and I've found you have to be careful because it really puts a strain on the turbine/rotor resulting in low RPM. The key is to adjust the collective and pitch to make the RPM happy while still maintaining nose high attitude.
Vlerkies Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Tried a bit of this myself a few days back. My target landing zone was the square gravel on the airfield, first one a bit short. Vlerkies Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 P.S Does anybody know how to embed the video in the post? Just take the last bit of the youtube url and insert it inbetween the video tabs you get when you click the youtube button on your post options. So from your vid http://youtu.be/1hJdPNC6PEI the bold bit only Thermaltake View 91, Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra, i9 9900K, Corsair H150i Pro, 32Gb Trident Z 3200, Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 2080ti, Corsair AX1200i, Warthog A-10 Hotas, MFG Crosswind pedals, TiR5 Pro, HP Reverb Pro

Robert1983NL Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 If you're making these 'combat turns', make 'm right hand turns. Not only because you're in the righthand seat and you'll have a better view that way, also -and more importantly- because it costs less power.

Good to know, I'm using my warthog sidestick (F-16 style) so it's easier to pull left. If it's modelled though i'll start going right. :joystick: Edited May 6, 2013 by wess24m
