Waiting for DB Lock in Windows 8

I am new to DCS.

 

I have installed the A-10C in the Windows 8 Pro and they work fine.

 

I want to play all the modules and downloaded the latest DCS World.

 

After the installation of the DCS World, a small window popped up saying it is "waiting for DB lock". After a couple of minutes another window appeared telling me "another updater is being carried out".

 

I have all the latest drivers installed and these error messages reappear each time I tried to launch the DCS World. Frustrating!!

 

I had tried running as the administrator and also in the W7 compatible mode but in vain.

 

Any solutions?

Check if DCS has write permissions to C:\Users\<YOUR PROFILE>\Saved Games\DCS folder.

And if there's a file named autoupdate.lock - delete it.

There is no autoupdate.lock but there are:-

a) autoupdate.cache in the DCS folder

b) autoupdate.setting in the config folder; and

c) autoupdate.txt and autoupdate.log.old in the logs folder

 

I have deleted items (a) and (b) but it works still the same.

 

I have the DVD version A-10C installed and running. may this causing the problem?

Yes.

I have tried to install DCS World on my brand new iMac 27" (with Windows 8 Pro) and 21" (with Windows 7 Ultimate) and both unsuccessfull (both after installation of the Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8).

 

this morning i installed DCS World on my old iMac 24" (with Windows 7 Home Advance) with nothing installed and it works.

 

I guess it is the antivirus! and not on the windows version.

 

I need to resinstall the whole Windows 8 and losing all other games progress.

Kaspersky is known for creating obscure system problems.

Before you do a full reintall, try disabling the AV or putting DCS into white list or exclusions.

When I am trying to delete the folder, it is saying that it is open in dcs and cannot be deleted. I tried all advice listed with no outcome. any ideas?
