I recently got DCS; P-51D, A-10c and BS2 but after installing the game and setting up my controls I came across the problem of everytime I want to run a mission or do the training the game momentarily closes itself down then reopens. This would not normally be a problem however, i use a microsoft FFB2 joystick with windows 7 64bit so everytime the game closes down I lose my FFB. When the game reopens the stick is as light as a feather and impossible to fly with. I have used my FFB2 in IL2 and war thunder and the same thing happens there but those games do not close down when you start a mission so the joystick retains it's FFB. I have had a search through the forums and it seems there are a lot of people that use this stick for this game so i was hoping they would be able to give me some advice as to how to stop my stick losing its FFB or stop the game closing down when launching a mission.

In addition i have a thrustmaster t flight stick hotas x that is use as my throttle and i have a track ir 4 camera with the led pro clip. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Yes - DCS can loose sometimes 'track' of your FFB joystick

(It happens really rarely for me - but I also alt-tab out very rarely and use almshouse exclusively full-screen when running DCS. Up to now I wasn't be able to track down a 'logic' behind it that triggers when it happens and when not while alt-tabbing)

-whatever - maybe there is something else that you have missed, so please have a look:

The problem I am having is when the game leaves the start menu to launch either the training or the campaign. I am able to alt tab out of the start menu and the joystick will keep its force feedback but the moment the game closes the start menu and launches the training or campaign that i want the force feedback goes but all the controls still work.

I have tried resetting the controller back to default in windows and recalibrating it, i also checked the joystick out in warthunder and alt tabbed out of that and it was still keeping its force feedback any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Some more additional information.

In the ingame options the joystick is called "4axis 8button joystick with hat switch" not sidewinder forcefeedback joystick like i have seen on some people's screen shots. I am running the game at fullscreen, 1080p native moniter resolution.

This is odd - never had it , and I have sometimes three (In numbers: 3) MsSFFB2 attached at the same time. -all show up at with their proper naming and they work as expected -

last Idea : Let Microsoft win7 search for the right drivers online and remove all stored drivers beforehand from your device-manager.

...I'm away from my simulation-rig for the next several days - so I can't help further for trouble-shooting.

Its ok i figured out the problem, i had yet to get the P51 off the ground so as a result the FFB had yet to kick in, once i was wheels up i got FFB. Don't remember that being in any of the flight sims that i played :P

OK - So it was a classic "ID:10-T" Error ;) - ...really,you got my head smoking during the last hour ! Never do this again ! :D

Before you have more 'surprises' - have a read here:

Why doesn't elevator trim wheel move in real time?

and here, to get a overview waht FFB effects to expect in DCS:

Have a look to get a idea what you are missing: ...

And don't expect any effects in the "DCS" tagged planes from firing a machine-gun.. - leave this to a butt-kicker. Only expect effects that are caused directly by the attached pulleys/linkages/hydraulics that are chained to the stick.
