I have trained voice recognition that comes with Win8. I want to use it for ATC, and have confirmed that when I speak "Press Fx", I get that key press. The small window that speech rec shows changes and says "Pressing Keys". But nothing happens in the sim?? When I then push the Fx key on the keyboard it works fine. The sim works just fine when I am speaking and the mic is "listening".

If I speak "What can I say", I get the windows screen showing the commands so I know it is working. The sim is already running when I do this.

Thoughts? I am using DCS a-10C.

It is mostly the keyboard focus. If you talk to the VR window, the key presses are normally set for the VR window only. It could be a solution to click (enable) the simulator window to be sure, that the focus is there and then speak the command.

I do have the focus on the sim. The cursor (the yellow cross) will briefly disappear while the VR window says "pressing keys". I have downloaded VAC and since it has a trial, I will try that out. Seems odd to me.
