Is there a way we can have a client flight group already visible on the taxiway before the mission starts? I've thought of numerous ways to do it including using static objects to resemble these planes until the group is activated then remove the statics except there seems to be no way to use a trigger to remove a static unit. Also it would not take the plane from a runways resources.

What I really want is to have the aircraft visible start on the taxiway from the very start of the mission. The flight group is then only available to the client when an enemy aircraft enters a zone to create a ground alert intercept task. Something like this could add a lot of depth to a mission.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have to know.

Thanks

As I explained in this thread on basically the same topic: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=110106

Uncontrolled doesn't work like that. Uncontrolled serves two purposes; 1. So AI don't "magically" appear. 2. Easy way to populate an airbase with static assets. Uncontrolled only works on AI aircraft, and only from parking with engines off. Without using uncontrolled, we can spawn aircraft (player or AI) on the runway (engines running) or from the ramp (engines off or running), but a taxiway spawn isn't in the sim at at all. About the closest you could accomplish what you want is to set the "parking" spot to be as close to the active runway as possible and set the aircraft to start from parking hot.

There are numerous considerations that need to be understood for how the sim works in multiplayer vs how it works in SP. In single player you can spawn aircraft on runways, in multiplayer if you set an aircraft to take off from the runway, it will instead spawn on the ramp engines running. This is done so the game won't spawn aircraft in front of players who are in the process of landing or about to take-off. It does a quick check to see if the spawn point is occupied and tries to find and empty one if it is. Also "Client" aircraft are special. They can respawn, they don't logically exist in the mission until they spawn, and they can spawn whenever they want. But it is also a defined slot, with a defined role, payload, location, waypoints etc.

What you are wanting to do with player based ground alert intercept is easily possible if the players are willing to role-play it and wait to take-off until ordered to do so.
