Lao Fei Mao Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Last night, when I'm flying a SU-33, I tried to call the air tanker to do a air to air refueling. The annoying thing is when I call the "Ready to pre-contact", the tanker always said "return to pre-contact" and never deploy the pipeline even if I get very closer to it. Anybody knows how? (I use the latest update3 of 1.2.6)
Robin_Hood Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 You have to be stabilized a short distance behind the tanker (ie. in pre-contact position) for him to clear you to contact position and deploy the drogue 2nd French Fighter Squadron
mmaruda Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Did you open the refueling hatch? I think it's R or CTRL+R.
Lao Fei Mao Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Did you open the refueling hatch? I think it's R or CTRL+R. ------Of course I did, I have achieved the air-to-air refueling. the russia tanker would deploy the drogue only after you get closer enough (<0.1KM) and stable for few seconds. But when I fly F-15, the USA tanker would do it even if I'm 3km away from it. So I got a question, is it a real situation or a bug?

It does seem a bit weird to get into pre-contact position without the drogue out (pre-contact should be a few feet behind the drogue, so without it it is pretty much guesswork). IMO it should work like the US tanker: get the boom/drogue out from far away, but still clear to contact only if the aircraft is in a good stabilized pre-contact position. I might be wrong, though, and I must admit I have no idea how russian procédures dictate aerial refueling. 2nd French Fighter Squadron
