CptTangerine Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Hi I find that the engine noise in the cockpit of the Ka-50 is extremely quiet once the door is closed. I find it hard to believe that the pilot is that well insulated from the external noise of rotors, engine, gearbox, etc. Is there any way to make the engine noise louder in the cockpit? I know that there are the usual volume sliders but my cockpit sound is as up as far as it will go and, while I know that I could nudge all the others down a bit to make the cockpit noise super high, this would affect all the aircraft in the game and the Huey seems just about right. Is there a way of editing the config file etc. to up just the engine noise? Cheers! Metal Hawk Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Don't forget that pilots also wear helmets and headphones that reduce external sounds even further. But as a workaround, have you tried to lower all the other sounds (In the DCS World manual you can find which slider affects which sounds volume) and crank up the volume of your speakers? It might be what you are after.
CptTangerine Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 I see what you're saying about pilots wearing all kinds of sound muffling gear but that would have an effect even when the door was open. I did consider that fiddling with the sliders but that would be a lot of hassle and also I'd have to fiddle with them again when I played any of the other DCS titles, most of which have perfectly good sound levels in and out of cockpit. As I say above, I was kind of hoping that there would be a parameter somewhere in the config file that I could tweak. There must be something there somewhere or the Huey would be quieter when the doors were closed like the Ka-50 but, of course, it's not necessarily tweakable. CptTangerine Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 OK. Had a look at that, screamed, ran away. I think I'll put up with the quiet in-cockpit sound. Thanks anyway!
