ozTRipwiRE Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Hi, I have been getting into DCS Warthog a bit and have a question for those who play it. Is it the experience of most of you that the Targeting Pod sometimes only picks up targets when zoomed in quite close or can most of you pick them up when zoomed out quite a way. I had a problem with a version of DCS Warthog that I installed from CD where the trucks in the first Instant Action mission only appeared when zoomed in quite close and this is still happening with the version I just downloaded through the Module Manager. They would not be on my MFCD screen at all and would then suddenly appear. When they appeared they were zoomed in quite close. I was playing another mission where enemies would appear when zoomed out quite a way though. Is this the experience of most of you and do you just work around it by making sure you are zoomed in very close when searching for ground targets? Please let me know so I can know if it is a problem specific to me or if you also have experienced this issue. Thanks, ozTRipwiRE
nomdeplume Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I'd take a look at your graphics settings especially regarding draw distance, but all the quality settings could apply here. The missions can override a lot of settings (unless you select the "Use these settings for all missions" option in your options screen), including things like the "Scenes" setting which alters the detail levels. There's also the possibility that particular 3D models have incorrect level of detail (LOD) settings which can cause this as well; the LOD is used to display a simpler model at longer distances, but it's possible to end up with a LOD that doesn't show anything and then when you get a bit closer, it suddenly appears. So... pretty vague, sorry! Basically: fiddle with your graphics settings, and also try to determine if it's particular units that this occurs with.
