Hi all,

I've got a bit of a weird research in mind but I figured it's worth a try. Currently I have a steady 30 FPS (capped at 1/2 vsync) with only minor drops at my native of 1366*768. Given the small size I am thinking of getting a 1920*1080. This results in 2Mpx rendered vs. 1Mpx.

I'd somehow like to get a fair prediction of what my FPS will be prior to buying a screen. Since Fraps measures at the endmost of the pipeline I am thinking to benchmark the sim at a resolution higher than what my current screen supports. This will lead to a 'no input' screen if it is possible to force a resolution at all...

Any thoughts on how to pull this off? Obviously I don't have a 1920*1080 at my disposal to try out.

You might see a small drop but I don't think it should be much since you have a decent amount of VRAM.

EDIT: Assuming you purchased the monitor with a decent return policy, you could buy one and return it if the performance was not to your liking. It won't take you long to find out if you will be happy with it or not.

Don't get your hopes up, it's still a notebook...

Anyway, I think youre right but I find a 200 buck purchase a lot to simply base on a gut feeling. No offense :)

EDIT: yeah good point about the return policy. Probably do that if I can't find an answer to my question within a week or so.

I did notice it was a notebook. My gut feeling is also based on what I see running DCS on a 3GB card @2560x1440, with another 1080p monitor on there as well.

I also have an idea of what the mobile chip can do since I have a 2GB 560M in my laptop which has a 1080p display built in.
