BS night vision

I don't fully understand how night vision is implemented in this sim.

 

On some missions I get night vision simply using the helmet mounted sight. But on some I don't get night vision when I use the HMS, I just end up with the yellow reticule and a dark night and no night vision.

 

On some mission briefings I recall reading a note to ask for night vision goggles before the fight. What's that about, and how is that done?

 

I've search the forum and have only come up with the statement that NVG is automatic with the HMS, but I haven't had that experience on all night missions.

 

Can someone please tell me how NVG works in this sim, and how to get it work at will?

You have to ask the ground crew using the comm menu to swap your HMS for NVG. Then you use it using 'H', just like you would your HMS. Youll have to tweak around a bit with the brightness knobs in the cockpit, but youll get used to it. In some cases it can be helpful to use the hud filter to see the hud with NVG on.

I tried looking for the NVG on the rearm and refuel menu but never thought to look into the COMMS menu!
