Well my Saitek X52 Pro has somehow fudged my computer to the point where I'm going to format my hard drive.

I sort of got the unit working in DCS but the mouse, mouse button and scroll wheel didn't function. This best result was after a few different attempts of me deleting this and that and what not. My Windows will now not allow me to delete the Saitek folder as it "supposedly" open somewhere, somewhere I can't find. As of now, plugging my Saitek X52 Pro in doesn't lock the computer but it does prevent me from using any other program.

What steps did you you take to successfully install your X52 Pro? Step by step.

Did you avoid USB 3.0 altogether? Did you download the most current driver and start installing that BEFORE plugging in the X52 Pro?

Thanks,

Chris

I did this:

Downloaded latest driver: ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_27_13_x64_Drivers.exe

(This is valid for all 64bit Windows versions; I'm on Win 7 Pro 64bit)

Installed it. And it'll ask you to plug it in, if I remember correctly. I then plugged it into a USB 2.0 port (black ports, not blue).

Done.

Had other problems with USB at that time, but that was completely unrelated. See your other thread on that subject ;)

My humble rig: Windows 10 pro 64bit; i7-6700k on Gigabyte Z170X G7; 32GB; MSI 980ti Twin Frozr; 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe/PCIe x4); 1TB Samsung 850 Pro; Komplete Audio 6; TrackIR 5 Pro;

DCS 2.5 with almost all modules; favourites: Shark, Mi-8, Harrier, Viggen, Mirage, Hornet

I did the same as Lucifah under windows 8 and had no issues, Blooze's link is a good one to follow for getting it straightened out and will hopefully work.

Thank you to everyone so far. Unfortunately, after having formatted my SSD, putting every driver back in and setting everything back up, I went to put the X52 Pro driver back on from the internet, followed the instructions, plugged my controller into a black USB 2.0 port and actually made it to what I assume is one of the last screens.

I had gotten to the point where I could test the deadzones, change the LED's, etc, clicked OK and it had a green progress bar emerge, followed by another that just.....froze again. No luck.

I rebooted the computer and the throttle side LED's wouldn't light up but the stick side would. It also otherwise prevented me from opening programs (like MSi afterburner etc).

I called Saitek tech support earlier today and they were no help unfortunately. It needs to be forwarded to an advanced tech support which needs to be accomplished through a help ticket (already done, waiting).

What I don't understand is I got the same driver to function on my Windows 7 laptop, same stick. I know it works (and great at that). What boggles my mind is why it doesn't work on the newer supposed high speed system.

Make sure you have updated your mainboard drivers and verify you have the latest ones from the mainboard website. You may be using a generic USB driver from Microsoft and sometimes this may cause issues. Be sure that ALL drivers are up to date for the entire machine..

How do I go about doing this? Everything I've read about updating BIOS is risky, also, every other peripheral I've plugged has done just fine.

Any ideas?

Not the bios but the hardware drivers in Windows. Windows will install basic out of date drivers from the install disc and they are not ideal. The motherboard site will have the latest drivers for it.

Do you use Windows Update for graphics and sound drivers or download them direct from part makers site?

I let Windows Update grab all updates. Are you suggesting those won't be in the Windows Update?

Microsoft provides generic drivers that do work in most instances, but the drivers provided by the mainboard manufacturer are designed specifically for the chips on your board and should work better than MS generics...

You should have received a mainboard CD with your board when you installed it.. You can Try running the driver install program on that CD.. But you are better off going to the mainboard manufacturer and looking up your mainboard on their site as you can get the latest updated drivers specific to your mainboard.

No guarantee that this is the issue but it very well COULD be...
