poiopopo Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Hi I'm just wondering whether anybody has tried dcs world with this card. Right now I've got a radeon 6870 1gb and the game is very choppy. I want to be able to run dcs world across 3 screens at 5870x1080. Wondering sort of frames I can expect with this card's 4gb of vram Edited January 30, 2014 by poiopopo
Gerg Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 On 3 screens, about the same or worse fps as the 6870 on 1 screen 1080p probably. Maybe better with the GTX 770. 1
Faith Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 While the 4gb of vram is good, if you are planning on running across 4 screens you will need more raw power than just video memory. I would highly suggest getting at least a 770 if you want to run on high settings at high frames. Consider a 780 also. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jay43 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Try running them in portrait, i have just done this giving me a res of 3400 x 1920 and when measuring the screens diagonally its the same size as a 42inch tv screen but with much more clarity and detail. It doubled my frame rates and gets rid of the stretched and distorted sides. For example i was hitting 20 - 25 fps in the Huey on the deck in free flight once airborne it would jump to 30 - 35 fps, but now in free flight again and on the deck in the Huey i am hitting 40 - 45 fps and once airborne it jumps to 65 - 75 fps and some areas on the map i am hitting 90 fps. 1 Eagles may soar high but weasel's don't get sucked into jet engines. System Spec. Monitors: Samsung 570DX & Rift CV1 Mobo: MSI Godlike gaming X-99A CPU: Intel i7 5930K @ 3.50Ghz RAM: 32gb GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 980Ti VR Ready Cooling: Predator 360 Power Supply: OCZ ZX Series 80 Plus Gold Drives: Samsung SSD's 1tb, 500g plus others with OS Win10 64 bit
howie87 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 For 3 screens I'd go for a 770 4GB or maybe a 780 (they really aren't much more expensive). I've just bought a 770 2GB because I'm only using a single screen. I've actually found that the bottleneck in DCS is now my CPU (i5 2500k). For huge resolutions I'd recommend a hefty CPU cooler and overclock. Then get the most powerful card you can afford with 3GB+ of ram. 1
VanjaB Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Ive got that card (760 GTX 4GB) and Im very happy with its performance, but I run everything on one monitor. 1
Davis0079 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) I run a EVGA 760 sc @ 5080x900 (triple 1600x900 with bezel correction) with good fps in DCS....i say good...good for DCS...30fps....I have a older cpu (q6600@3.6ghz), so a i5-i7 will see big improvements over me....this 760 was a huge step over my duel 460s in sli in all games...the 700 series is a step above the rest....highly recommended.... ....for 3 screens though, the Titan is the most recommended....it comes with 6gig vram and spreads it evenly onto all three monitors....2gig per screen......this is the best multi monitor gpu available atm....but a little on the pricey side for a commoner like myself.... poiopopo Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Guys thanks for info, especially about experiences with the 760. My original plan was to purchase a single 760 prior to a full upgrade.. Judging by the framerates that can be achieved in this game I am now considering delaying the full upgrade and purchasing a titan or a gtx 780ti but I have not come across any benchmarks for these cards with dcs world. SLI doesn't seem to be an option because I read that it's not good for windowed performance and I plan on running helios on my fourth monitor.. I run a EVGA 760 sc @ 5080x900 (triple 1600x900 with bezel correction) with good fps in DCS....i say good...good for DCS...30fps....I have a older cpu (q6600@3.6ghz), so a i5-i7 will see big improvements over me....this 760 was a huge step over my duel 460s in sli in all games...the 700 series is a step above the rest....highly recommended.... ....for 3 screens though, the Titan is the most recommended....it comes with 6gig vram and spreads it evenly onto all three monitors....2gig per screen......this is the best multi monitor gpu available atm....but a little on the pricey side for a commoner like myself.... What settings are you using? Also is there any benchmarks done for this card?
Davis0079 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 http://www.legitreviews.com/evga-geforce-gtx-760-superclocked-w-acx-cooling-video-card-review_2240 this is a pretty good read about the 760s and has benchmarks for other games you may own... ...as for benchmarks in DCS....not really a unified way to benchmark dcs...I mean, like back in IL-2, the community use to run the "Black Death.trk"...record the min/max/avg fps and post it...giving a unified benchmarking techinic everyone used...this is not done with DCS for some reason (many reasons).... there are alot of variables with DCS....high alt in a F-15...low alt in a Uh-1....but If I have to say one or another...I will say this....you will get max frames at high alt and good frames at low alt with this card....assuming you have no weird driver or component problems integrating it with your rig....
