FAQ
Here are our most frequently asked questions. If you have more, visit us at our Discord: https://discord.gg/bSEf587B73
What time zone do you operate in?
- Eastern US with missions and trainings starting at 2000EST. Although we have many members from different zones, this seems to work for everyone.
What types of missions do you do on your "custom mission nights"?
-
A typical mission would flow like this:
- Mission Maker announces mission a few weeks beforehand and an overall objective
- Mission Maker waits to see how many sign up
- Mission Maker then tailors targets/objectives to suit the number of signups we have in each airframe.
- Squadron Mission Planners will then develop a plan, waypoints, and loadouts for the mission. They may also spend a Tuesday training for it.
- Mission Night: There will be a brief of the mission where individual flight plans, communications, threats are discussed. Once we enter the mission we fly as a flight to the objective, use group tactics to accomplish our mission and RTB back to base in formation. In the event someone gets shot down, we usually have hot starts available, but still try to rejoin our squadron and RTB back to base in formation.
- Afterwards, we will rejoin in Discord to review via Tacview and learn from mistakes/celebrate successes.
- We use military brevity when possible during missions but are relaxed outside of it.
- Types of missions run the gamut of what your aircraft can do. Some involve specific aircraft skillsets that squadrons might train on for a couple weeks beforehand. Others might involve planning, communication, or navigation skills to get to/from the target as part of a strike package. Others may involve CAS or entirely air to air scenarios. Most missions are part of a campaign and can be historical or real-world-based, or fictional scenarios.
Why are you so focused on members attending trainings and missions? I have a real life, you know.
- We have a few mission makers who tailor their missions to the number of sign-ups we have for that night. On a typical mission, we average around 15-18 signed up. The more who sign up early on, the more targets/activity the mission will have.
- This involves a lot of work from the mission creator, between 4-7 people total to edit the mission, then plan it for individuals to enjoy.
- Our training nights have become our most valuable group time because we build cohesion in the group. This is where we become a community.
- We fully understand that real-life often gets in the way of our hobby. We only ask that if you can make at least half our trainings/missions, that's great. If you can't just let us know. If you want to stay with the group, but know you'll be absent for a lengthy period of time, we can work that out as well.
What's your number 1 rule of the group?
- Don't be a D_@%.
I've applied to join. Now what?
- When you join JTF-111 you will first get a 1 on 1 flight with one of our experienced aviators from your squadron of interest, who will familiarize you with our procedures. Additionally, we offer comprehensive training materials on everything from ATC comms to BVR tactics to get you up to speed. Every Tuesday, our aviators get together to practice their squadron jet, with the goals of maximizing teamwork and mastering our squadron jet.
