No worries!

As a pilot (as I'm sure many of you are), with time in helos big and small, I have to say this:
Though DCS:BS may have a few shorcomings, the flight dynamics are not on that list. The flight fidelity of this sim is without equal in the PC world. I actually don't go around shooting too many things in this sim. I plan routes and explore the KA-50's flight envelope under varying conditions, and I'm constantly surprised at the level of realism. Is there a lot to learn? Of course! Are the flight controls and avionics confusing? Sometimes. (I mean, it's Russian! :smilewink: ) But blame Kamov. ED gave you an arcade mode if you don't want to learn to fly the thing.
As for ease of use, regarding UI; Again, I've had a much easier time with Black Shark than with most other sims. I have never even ventured into BS's config files, and I think that's saying something!
As for...
Who knows if the guy is a troll I've learned more in this thread about the community and the response to him then I did from his "rant".Thanks for attributing one person's comment to the entire community. :no_sad:
Everyone else has been pleading for a track file and asking for more details so as to help him. ChromeWasp continues to claim what other sims can and can't do and making baseless, generalized accusations. It sounds like a rant to me, born of frustration due to lack of experience with the system.

This is the Precision Attitude Control System (PACS) that uses the trim and SAS system to maintain the CCIP pipper in pitch and yaw on the target point at PACS stage 1 pull. PACS stage 2 then fires the gun. Yes, it will be DCS: A-10C.
You'll want a dual stage trigger for this.
Thanks for the memory jolt, Wags. I was trying to remember the acronyms as it's been a number of years since I worked on them. It was interesting watching the SAS (Stability Augmentation) ground checks during start-up. The rudder snapped a couple degrees right, then center. Elevator snapped up a couple of degrees, then center.
I was an engine guy on the A-10 and the one thing I know for certain is this: Gun exhaust gunks up engines!

Thanks for the good replies everyone.
Outlaw 24, that was exactly what I was looking for. It was very helpful, thank you!
To answer everyone's questions. I have new drivers, new SST software, etc. I think my SST software was conflicting with the buttons I was trying to assign in-game. Once I deleted SST and profiles, I could assign HOTAS buttons by pressing them in the BS options menu. Not a fan of SST, personally, so it is now gone. I know it could be useful, but I frankly don't have the time or desire to learn my joystick's software intricacies.
Does anyone else have the sound problems I've described? It's not that big of a deal, just slightly annoying.
Again, thanks for the help everyone!
Oh, I'm also attaching a one page excel file I made of the cockpit annunciator panels. I have it printed out and in front of me so that I can actually reference what is lighting up! Free use for everyone, do with it what you will. In fact, you even have my permission to profit from it if you are so clever!

Hello all,
Here are a number of issues I'm encountering:
I've spent many hours (days) trying to get my x52 pro working. Obviously I'm not the only one. After searching the threads up and down, I'm finally posting.
Long story short, when I set up my x52 using SST, BS doesn't see it. I haven't set up much, mostly just testing it, but again, nothing shows up in-game.
Second, after reading a bunch of threads, I've come to the conclusion that the SST is much more difficult to set up properly in the first place. (macros, etc. I don't even know what that word means, much less how to use "it". Yes, I've been reading the saitek forums and manuals. They assume I have much more knowledge in the first place.)
When trying to assign stick buttons in the game options menu, how does one know which button corresponds to a specific spot on the joystick/throttle? Example: If I want to set the pinkie switch to "auto hover", is the pinkie switch button 3, or button 103, or somewhere in between? Does anyone have an actual map or list of which buttons are what number on the x52? (Saitek software says "fire a, b, c, pinkie, trigger", etc. BS says "button 1, 21, 59", etc.) Why doesn't the sim just allow you to press the button that you'd like to assign to a specific task. I mean, it's only 2010 and other sims have allowed you to do this for oh, say, the last fifteen years!
Third. The in-game sounds sound like they are coming out of a deep tunnel. I don't really know how to describe this properly, except to say that it's a very slow rising and falling wooshing sound, like bad compression artifacts or something. Related to this, when switching between views and back again, the sounds get "messed up" and I have to pause/unpause the sim for the sounds to go back to "normal". (Normal meaning crappy tunnel sounds.) Is there a fix for any of this? I haven't found any other threads mentioning this, so is it just me?
All that said, this sim is fantastic and I'm really enjoying learning how to operate the Black Shark! I can live with the crappy sound, but not being able to assign things to my HOTAS makes it nearly unplayable as a weapons platform. Again, I've spent the better part of my free time during the last two weeks just trying to get buttons assigned, with little luck.
I appreciate any help!
Thanks!

The responses are correct. If you are watching on an LCD screen, or even old CRT computer monitors, 60Hz is the maximum that is displayed. You could ramp your game FPS to a million and not see a difference. (This is kind of like watching 720p and 1080p screens side by side from 6ft away. Unless you're a pro videographer/editor etc. you won't be able to tell the diff.) Many new tv's/monitors from 2009 and later refresh at 120Hz, and some really high end sets refresh at 240. Still, the only way you'll be able to tell the diff is in very fast motion, like maybe the helo rotors.

No way! I don't believe it! Black Shark has just been trumped by Grand Theft Auto!
GTA used in the same sentence with "sim", boy I really never thought I'd see the day.
Ok ok, I'm going to try to take this seriously now. Ummm. Ok, I'm ready:
Starting out with BS I had many of the same problems you've described. I can't stress enough that you need to read all of the documentation. I know it's a big pdf, but just about everything in there is important. And to be honest, I still had plenty of trouble with the systems after reading the entire book. Sooooo, head to youtube and watch all of the producer's notes by Wagmatt. After that, things will start coming together and you'll be able to fly this amazing bird. If you've read some of the book and seen a couple of the videos, it's not enough. Read/watch all of it. They call it a "study" sim for a very specific reason!
I'm going to go take a cold shower now. Seriously, GTASA. I really never thought....man, I feel dizzy.
