1. I'll be trying to run another test run this weekend if I'm lucky. I have no ETA for the game its self, but I have to nerf it a little bit. The blue screen of death kinda indicates that I went overkill with what I was doing for it. My CPU just failed to keep up.
2. Mission 3 can be a bit tricky. You have to rely on the Blackshark group to kill the ground targets, but I know sometimes they get all herp-derp and don't kill the last of them. I might add a failsafe for the mission. At X-amount of time if the Blackshark group is still alive, I'll just add a trigger to kill remaining targets perhaps.
3. I admit I'm a little nervous about giving it a single player version! I bluescreened my game after all! And I'm running a damn good computer! :P
4. Game is over, but here's how it all was. I'll leave the content below unaltered. Basically, we got a good test in, we played for nearly 6 hours, then suddenly everything started to spaz in the server. Our controls randomly locked up for everyone on the server, including me, then suddenly BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. ._. But the test otherwise went well. We finished at least 50% of the mission. I jotted some stuff down to improve. OPERATION: WINTER STORM ----------------------------------------------------------------- IN-GAME MISSION DESCRIPTION: ***IMPORTANT NOTE*** This is a siege and assault mission. Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are among the victims of the recent terrorist attacks. Initially, Georgia attempted to blame Russia for the assault. However, during the crisis a group of Russian Su-33 fighters from the Admiral Kuznetsov were witnessed by NATO forces attempting to intercept the missiles. After further investigation, it appeared that these attacks were in fact launched from within Georgia in an effort to provoke NATO into an open conflict with Russia. Reports state that a powerful international organization may be to blame. They potentially hold links to major terrorist groups including (but not limited) to Al-Qaeda. However, much to the surprise of our intelligence, it is an extremist group that has been around for centuries called "The Armageddon Horsemen." Armageddon is not affiliated with, allied with, supported by, nor endorsed by any country. Instead, it is believed that the biological weapons and cruise missiles used for their delivery used may have been stolen or purchased from Russian, Iranian, and Chinese stockpiles. The enemy's arsenal includes weapons and vehicles stolen from the Israeli, French, Ukrainian, and German militaries. The enemy's forces include (but again are not limited to) members from Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Georgia, Afghanistan, China, Romania, Russia, Brazil, and even the United States of America. These members are traitors to their respective countries and shall be dealt with accordingly. They are vast in numbers and use sophisticated tactics unlike most guerrilla warfare groups. It is believed that the leadership is comprised of former high ranking officers from militaries around the world. This secret society--more powerful than the Free Masons and more dastardly than Hitler's SS--has been responsible for the deaths of millions in countless wars. Their objective seems to be turning world superpowers against each other in hopes that they will destroy everything else in their wake. However, now that their plan is discovered, an international retaliation has been launched to free Georgia and punish the terrorists. Faced with the deaths of their people, two of the world's former great rivals have joined forces to erase this threat. The United States of America and the Russian Federation have surprisingly agreed to put aside past conflicts in a collaborative effort to destroy Armageddon and free Georgia of its influence. This will be the first military cooperation that the United States and its allies have shared with Russia since World War 2. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The game is both A2A and A2G combat, including CAS, fighter sweep, SEAD, escort, and even pinpoint strike on the final airbase, Batumi. Currently there are no Blackshark slots in this game, but depending on demand, I may integrate them later on. It has also been suggested that I develop a single-player version of this map. Maybe. It'd be a looooooooooooooooong mission!
5. Finally updated this! Optimized missions to use .ogg instead of .wav files, reducing load time and file size to a fraction of its former self. Also added in the new mission!
6. ... Oh hey. I'm an idiot. There's an option for OGG. >_>;; Whoops.
7. If I knew how to convert them to .ogg, that would be a good idea, though for the moment I'm using Audacity to do the effects. .ogg format would certainly be helpful if I knew how to convert it without butchering the file with VLC. D: If you know any easy-to-use converting programs that won't cost me a dime, I'll use it. But yes, you may convert the files for DCS if you wish. Credits for the first two missions is just me (Jeremy "Spades" Neil) as I play both Col. Voyla and Boris. In the mission Barrakuda, my buddy James "Syracuse" Wardrip played a part for the helicopter group, and then finally for the mission "Russia's War", my friend Sam "Indigo" Stepanian plays Ian Sokolov. :smilewink:
8. Hm, this mission editor tool is pretty nifty. o.o Should prove helpful. Thanks guys. :D I'm still trying to figure out how to use the advanced triggers, but I'll get it eventually.
9. Erm, by 'vanilla' FC2 do you mean with or without the patch? Or just unmodded?
10. o.o Mission editor mod you say? This only needs to be client-side, right? I do a lot of missions for my squadron and campaigns. Where would I find this?
11. I don't think it's possible, frankly, but if it is, it'll make my life incredibly easier. Is there a way to make units continuously respawn throughout a game according to, say, a timeframe? Like every X-seconds, if a group is dead, the SAME group will respawn where it started off earlier on? Or is that just a pipe dream for me? Something tells me this isn't a feature in Lock On FC2, so I think I'm just going to have to end up making a piss-load of spawn points for AI and just running them off timed intervals. :P
12. Hm. Could just be site maintenance. If the problem persists, I'll have to find a new file sharing site. For now, I'll send you a PM with a rapidshare link.
13. I'm a bit rusty at making videos, but this still blows away anything I've done in the past. I need better editing software, but for what I can do with Windows Movie Maker, it's not half bad.
14. Anyone know where I might be able to find some good alarms like you'd hear on an aircraft carrier as it's under attack? Such as the Kuznetsov? Once more it's for the campaign I'm busy with.
15. Well we should know by tomorrow. I'm making him check his game as soon as possible.
16. For a LAN game this issue should be non-existent, but I'm suspecting that I screwed up the patch somehow when I installed it, so I have to wait and see what the heck is wrong.
17. The exception was an error within FC2. It's not like the game crashed and a popup appeared. Either way, next time he's around, I'll have to double-check the patch.
18. Yes. That had an error like, "Exception Error" or something like that. I can't remember the error offhand. One of my friends thought port forwarding might be an issue. I beg to differ as I can connect online just fine with my copy of the game.
19. My friend is having a lot of connectivity issues with his copy of FC2. It's a fresh install, I patched it for him (or so I would hope), and when we try to play online, this is where the trouble starts. We tried a LAN game first. My game never showed up on his network. I was hosting it, and he couldn't see it. Weird, we thought. So we troubleshot the internet. Yea, he can access the internet. Firefox works. Then we tried searching for an internet game... He saw two internet games. That's it. Nothing else. Yet on the same network, I was looking at dozens and dozens of servers! So it's not a network issue. Plus he's still having this problem at his father's house. What could be happening here? We also disabled his firewall to see if that effected it. Same results. Nothing changed. :(
20. So far what I've been doing is fairly simple. Two MBTs, two APC/IFV, and one AAA weapon in these little groups I blow up. I replicated the concept from the 104th servers and then dot them across air bases like they're guarding it. I also usually put AA guns on both ends of a runway, like two ZU emplacements each. So far it's worked nicely and created some lovely cinematic effects. However, I like to keep things as realistic as I can without a mission becoming ridiculously hard to beat. This information is helpful.
21. Ooo, this could be good for when I do my large-scale battles. Now I'm a bit limited with boats so I'll have to see what I can do. The Americans only have three...
22. @_@ Oh crap. I think I got a bit more than I could handle! I can feel my A.D.D. going, "OH MY GOD TL;DR!" Either way, if I can find the time to read it, or if someone could point me to what pages are relevant to what I'm trying to do in lock on, these documents should be helpful.
23. I'm busy making missions for FC2 for a campaign of seemingly increasing popularity. However, I'm not going to act like an expert with crap I don't know. :P This is the campaign I'm speaking of. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=57101 So I come here to ask if anyone has some examples and diagrams of tactics that ground forces might use that I can replicate in FC2's mission editor. Like, how many tanks are usually in a group? How many are APCs and how many are MBTs? Any anti-air cover among the groups? What would they use? So on and so fourth... Looking for NATO and Russian tactics for ground forces. I also need some stuff for the navies. I already know NATO would send in a carrier with a couple escorts, but what about Russia? Diagrams, screenshots, pictures, all would be helpful. :helpsmilie:
